"January 23rd we visited The Oar House in Rockwall, near the Harbor. Established about 20 years ago, The Oar House is simply Rockwall! I give this place 5 stars and here’s why: the Oar house is quiet, romantic, cozy, rustic yet elegant, with authentic wood floors with brick and cobblestone accents. The décor and authentic feel of an old, expensive cruise ship is strongly represented here. Think Titanic meets pirate ship. The crisp, white table cloths give The Oar House a formal nuance while the rustic floors and ceilings balance out the ambiance with a more relaxed feel. The prices are on the high side but the food and service are impeccable! For appetizers, we had the large, button mushrooms filled with veal and seasoned with a lovely balance of rosemary and thyme in a creamy tomato sauce which was perfect for dipping our fresh garlic bread. We also shared the baby clams in a creamy sauce. I’m not much of a shellfish person, but the sauce on these was delicious! Each week, the chef at The Oar House, puts together a special menu that is ever changing so I ordered sole, garlic mashed potatoes and a perfectly cooked veg medley from among the few “Chef’s Choice” dishes. The fish was cooked to perfection! This came with a side salad which was fresh and delicious! Duane kept it simple with a bowl of lobster bisque and he described it as rich with multiple layers of flavor, the best he’s had, and a cross between lobster bisque and roasted pepper soup, which sang to him! This place is going to be one of our favorites! We were invited to return for lunch, as the menu is slightly different. "I was able to come to dinner because they are always busy when I come and they try to sit as fast as possible reservations. that is not a conus, it is just a witness how good they are (but it can be a conus if you like it is inner? when we sat, we had a few cocktails a dirty martini and an old fashion and they were well done. we took time to have a few courses. we started with the 50/50 meatballs and then the z house salad. the meatballs were so delicious, tender and full of taste some of the best I ever had! the z house salad was a little disappointed. for the salat to be a restaurant special, it was no wow and would have used a sweet kick to it to add the pow it needed. we had the praisest ravioli next and it was amazing. the ravioli was perfectly al dente boiled and the pomtom sauce was for this the best part of the meal to die. we also had the new york white pie and it was really good not to do about or flimsy (if that makes sense) for dessert we had espresso martinis and the bananas foster. the bananas foster was really soft and gooey and I liked it (the other person with me did not enjoy it as much as I felt because the banana was too overpowered. the espresso martinis could have had more espresso in them because he tasted too sweet as it had too much kahlua. the restaurant itself was really sweet, beautifully decorated. the toilets were also clean. I would definitely go back to try some other dishes because I had a good time and apart from some small cones, they were really good overall."

"The burger meal was good; not the best, but also not the worst. there was not really anything that raises food from the many Burger restaurants in the DFW area. the price was fair for what they offered. the atmosphere was beautiful. I read the other reviews before I left, and was concerned about how several had mentioned that they had their orders wrong. it happened to me too. I didn't find it confusing, but during eating I noticed several mozens that don't know where to go order."

"Absolutely love this place! Average prices too! We’ve had several different dishes and they’ve all been great! Very authentic! Would not recommend if you’re picky or aren’t used to lots of flavor! One of my favorites is the fried Massaman curry rice! And even the basic Pad Thai is great! Highly recommend!"
