Nice new extension but it’s a shame it’s only take away cups and no one seems to clear the tables!

"This was such a special treat! A really fantastic afternoon tea with delicious sandwiches, scones and cakes … plenty too! We were very looked after by the two guys who run it …. They were really accommodating too as although we had booked a table, we had forgotten to specify it was for afternoon tea. They made it especially for us which we really did appreciate! It’s a lovely little find, and well deserves great reviews. Will definitely be back! So much nicer than many big hotels that lack atmosphere and serve mediocre food … this was 5 stars!!"

"My parents recently had their 60th Wedding anniversary dinner for 27 people at the Hilltop. From our first meeting with Daren a few months before the event, Daren took a great interest in planning all aspects of the evening, he really went above and beyond to make sure that the occasion was all that we could hope it to be. On the night Daren was on top of every aspect of the evening and he and his team made it a huge success. I should also mention that the food was lovely and the wine list excellent. 5 star."

"I will start by saying our waiter was excellent. The booking was made easily and we were expected. I accept that Covid has had a huge impact on ambience with the inclusion of screens etc. Not a huge restaurant and it was quite loud making hearing the waiter with his mask on quite hard. It became noisier for us sitting by the door as the chef wanted to open the door from time to time to circulate the air, but then it was cold. I had high hopes for the food but have to say myself and my guests were disappointed. It was cooked fresh but our dishes were very bland when we had expected them to be far more flavourful, however one of my guests ordered a dish that turned out to be very spicy and the menu had not indicated it would be. The rice was lovely as was the garlic naan, but the main dishes were lacking in flavour."
