This is a gem of a restaurant in the busy little market town of St Pons. We go there specifically for the great food - the weekday lunch and evening formule is an incredible 17€ for 3 courses. We have taken many friends there and they are always amazed at the quality of the food and the beautiful presentation. Highly recommended. read more.

"Great experience to eat in la table the castigno. All the manners of the menu were taken care of to the smallest detail, two flame cooks cooking on stern level. Also the service and the inside is 100%. Because we gave birth within five days, we went to dinner 2x, and we didn't eat justice 2x. Shortly, a wonderful experience. "We visited on a beautiful Sunday evening and sat outside. Rachel welcomed us warmly. We had a lovely 3 course meal with wine and Rachel chatted to us in between courses. We so enjoyed everything about the restaurant that we promised to come back with the rest of the family before we went home. Six adults and our baby grandson returned the following Saturday and again sat outside. Rachel again made us very welcome and the food was as delicious as before. We would definitely this restaurant if you are in the area."

"We really didn't study the menu, just focused on tapas and thought that would make a change. Firstly the greeting and service from 'maitre d' was very lack lustre, happily the guy who actually served us was pleasant and knew how to smile unlike his boss. Now when we really looked at the menu, how do you make a dinner out from crepes, tartines and the a poor selection of tapas - more tartine type things, 3 sorts of brochettes, Spanish omelette, No Patatas Bravas!! Ok we should have gone to Spain! I think there were 3 options of 'proper' main courses, we had the gambas and they were a good size, excellent value. Tapas of, peppers and bread, cheese and bread, sardine rilette and bread - good job the bread was really good! and a duck brochettes - fine. But the lettuce wasn't washed, not just gritty, actually earth brown and the chocolate molleux for desert was poor. So has potential, just a strange menu combination, certainly some good things but the welcome (lack of) was sufficient to make us not want to return."
