A nice Japanese family restaurant. There were not many customers at noon on a Thursday, and the food was served quickly. We ordered three set meals, the pork cutlet rice and tempura (shrimp and vegetables) were both good, and the cold buckwheat noodles and udon with special sauce were even better. However, the cold noodles and udon set meals also come with rice, so there are a bit too many staple dishes, so I’ll try... View all feedback.
What Jessica Betschart doesn't like about Ducks:
I ordered the pork katsu curry. The taste is fine but for the price, I felt it wasn’t worth it at $16.95. This is by far the most heavily battered pork katsu I have ever had and I’ve had pork katsu in Japan, Taiwan, and the States. The batter to protein ratio felt disproportionate to me. If I had to go back here, I definitely won’t be ordering anything fried. The restaurant atmosphere was cute and cozy at least. Serv... View all feedback.
Love love love Ducks! Always tasty and hits the spot! Update: Still love love love! Update #2: Still love love love!
Iconic San Gabriel Japanese soul food. Always busy but worth the wait. Everything is made from scratch. Curry is made from a family recipe and the broth for the ramen is exceptional. I've seen families walk through saying they love it as well because there's something for everyone of all ages. In a small restaurant you wouldn't expect their drink selection but they have about 7 or 8 unique Japanese beers and Sake! Definitely food for the soul in every way. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly but also kids love the food. I've seen a toddler non-verbally argue with their dad because they were still eating. In the group of 10, 6 were kids and they seemed very happy.
This has become one of my favorite restaurants for Japanese comfort food. Very casual interior, but if you’re looking for something delicious on comfortable, this place is it! Katsudon and tempura were great!
Oh man it's been a while since I was excited for Japanese food. This place definitely hit the spot on a rainy day. The rubber ducky decor elevated the experience to an 11/10. We ordered the chicken karage, katsudon don, and soba noodles with tempura on the side. Lemme tell you, we were STUFFED. They were hecking busy when we went and everyone's food looked so amazing. Had an immediate food coma after this. Will 100% be coming back. Parking: Corner plaza free parking lot. Free street parking is available.
The cold soba and katsu don were good.the unagi don was a bit too sweet.got upset stomach after the
