last night, they were short. I saw one of the chiefs coming to sit and turn on people. it was very teamwork and probably not too many diner even noticed. the waiting staff was friendly and never letting them be short workers and more than likely stressed because it was very busy. our meal was delicious (although the carrot cake was dry and underwhelming). the cafe stella closes in a week and they were with reduced staff in the front and back of the house. that meant a long waiting time to be sitting, a long waiting time for cocktails and, surprise, a long waiting time for eating. Not how the restaurant was in better times. eating was good, up to their usual standard. come in quickly if they want a last croque madame or boeuf bourgignon. we will miss cafe stella.
