The restaurant has an excellent location right in the main square of Tequis. They have tables on the portal terrace and inside. The staff is very professional and the owner is always taking care of the place. The concept of the restauran is a Spain - Mexico fussion. The menu has many options for different tastes. What User doesn't like about El Campanario:
I can see why the reviews are so mixed. Nice locale, yes, but the food is less than mediocre. Sat down to order the ‘best paella in the world’. False advertising is an understatement. It wasn’t hot and not even warm and here’s best wishes...for my stomach to be ok later. Eating cool paella is probably not the best idea. I typically send things back that are not right but I’m not big on it here in Mexico. So, besides... View all feedback.

It wasn't hot and not even warm and here the best wishes...for my stomach will be okay later. Eating cool paella is probably not the best idea. I usually send back things that are not right, but I'm not big here in Mexico. So, besides the less than lukewarm, there were all hollow shells of everything that was on the plate. Be quiet of me to be excited. Typically, restaurants on the Plaza are not fabulous or even decent. Funny to be optimistic. The Victoria beer was refreshing as usual. I will not be back to try the chili en nogada.
I stumbled over this restaurant with a colleague and thought we'd go. The manager was excellent and spoke perfectly English. The views share great as it is located on the city square. But the best thing about this restaurant is the food. It was very good with generous portions and easy one of the best restaurant meals I had in the state. I'd definitely go back if I were in the area.

Too expensive, plus they tried to overcharge. $75 pesos for a $40 pesos beer. To many flys. I will not come back. The Paella is OK.
Not only is the paella not the world's best, it is less than mediocre. There were four of us, two of us found the crab claws on top of the paella were empty. Made us all wonder if they were "recycled." And for God's sake...since when are cheap hot dogs a substitute for spanish sausage in paella? The sopa azteca was ok, not great.
