"We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Ditto last year and were disappointed to learn it had closed. However relieved to find it open again just in time for our annual visit to Whitby. Although the food was still very good it was marginally not as good as last year. My chicken dish looked messy and was under seasoned, the portions large for me. Service was still very courteous and perhaps too efficient. Would have liked more time between courses, it all felt a bit rushed. However the food was still very good and we will be back next time in Whitby."

"Staying local to Staithes we wanted to find somewhere nice to eat on the afternoon of our anniversary. The Ellerby was recommended to us so we gave it a try, and we weren't disappointed . The village of Ellerby is beautiful. The Ellerby itself has the prettiest garden to sit in, although inside was just as nice we decided to eat outdoors. I ordered the crab salad, oh my days it was just perfection! Such a great portion and so very tasty. My Husband had the steak pie which he also really enjoyed. Staff were lovely too, great service."

"We were so glad to find a dog friendly venue with vegan items on the menu. We had the linguini and the homemade “goat cheese” and beet gnocchi which were great. However the VE sandwiches (pear, avo, humous came served with a garnish of what we thought was not SFV coleslaw. In the end we felt that the person who had devised the menu understood veganism but perhaps not all the staff on this day or kitchen staff. As we’d already made it really obvs we were a mostly vegan group by checking the soup of the day (tomato and basil but included cream, shame! . So just a pity that the coleslaw came on the plate. Also top tip, if ordering linguini, the “side” is almost as much in quantity as the “main”, so much better value."
