Although their website and Tripadvisor inclusion advises that this restaurant opens for lunch every day, this is incorrect.

Pop in as working nearby. Excellent prices and food. The only slight issue was the naan was a bit heavy. Otherwise I would go back. Lovely people and place.

"We were looking for somewhere nice to stop for lunch whilst on the way to Ilminster and found The Almshouse Tea Shop on Google. Highly recommended, I phoned to see if we needed to book a table, as we were only 20 minutes away, and the lady who picked up the phone (the owner? was super friendly helpful. When we arrived we found a table outside (we were told there was no need to book this time and as the tea shop is set in the historical market square, the views of the buildings surrounding us were beautiful. I went inside and ordered a sausage roll salad and also a cheese red onion scone, plus a some cakes. Everything was absolutely delicious! The lady who brought our food out was the same lady I spoke to on the phone and again, she was super helpful. She told us about the Axbridge Heritage Trail which we will definitely try next time. Would strongly recommend The Almshouse Tea Shop and intend to visit again upon our return journey in a few days!"

"It’s been difficult for pubs that are not chains to get through the other side since Covid, this little gem in the heart of Taunton town has done just that. It’s because of the steadfast commitment and passion of the owner along with his team who have worked hard and succeeded to provide customers with great local produce, thoughtfully prepared dishes and good service. It is only because of this that this lovely bistro pub is always buzzy with a lovely atmosphere and on the occasions I have visited the food has been delicious, exciting and service always great. I brought along family from London on this occasion who are extremely hard to please having been other places and been disappointed, I thought it may be a challenge- I am happy to say all the food was delicious and they were very happy ! So thanks"

"Kerrie and james cooksley we had our high-time reception and evening party of ian ,josh and the family looked after and it was absolutely first class. eating was a fantastic 3-course carvery nicely served and the evening buffet was a wonderful sortiment nothing was too much annoyed. the room was beautifully decorated, just as I asked everyone was needed in a relaxed friendly atmosphere that we really enjoyed all day specially made by ian and his family help. I would recommend the ring of bells for each event it is a wonderful place and very well run and excellent value for money and nothing is too much annoyed. many thanks to isn josh dn all that made the day so special"
