We spent a weekend in Folkstone and decided to have fish and chips. Really you can't go to the coast and not have them. We were not disappointed. The fish was perfect as were the chips. The lady who served us was so friendly and efficient. The batter on the fish was just the way we like it, crispy but not too thick. It was the perfect end to our weekend. We know how difficult it is for these shops at the moment so we... View all feedback.
What F2344RGjonr doesn't like about Papas Fish Chips Takeaway:
Gone down hill recently, it was one of the best and sadly i won't be going back there,,,,,,oil dripping off the over cooked batter portion size was meant to be medium paid enough for it but it was actually small and not the first time this has happened and very over priced for what i got View all feedback.
I ordered a mini cod and chips costing £8.00!! I've previously had what they name their Specials and all I got was some overcooked batter and half a dozen chips which weren't great so I opted for the slightly bigger portion but what a massive price increase! I waited over 40 minutes for the order, the staff were serving people who came after myself with similar orders and they were extremely disorganised! When I got my order the fish was absolutely the worst I've seen and tasted, it was literally greasy burned batter and black skin at the bottom and the tiny bit of fish was as dry as a bone!! The child looked dry and tasted ok but still left a burned after taste as they're definitely using cheap and nasty old burned fat that's not been cleaned for ages!! An utter disgrace and I walked all the way back and told the chef this and he just grimaced at me and said ok and looked away again to cook his next orders ! This place needs to be checked out for cheap and over used old cooking fat and clamping down on as they're not bothered about any constructive criticism from the customers whatsoever!!
Orderd 1 large cod 1 medium plaice 1 large chips curry sauce and mushy peas both bits of fish were literally all batter a tenner per bit of fish for that rubbish ! Absolutely disgraceful too charge that amount for fish won’t be going there again !
I was disappointed with this restaurant as they lied about having a Greek menu. The souvlaki came with a thin, unappetizing wrap instead of the traditional Greek pita. I will not be ordering from them again. The Greek food stand on the harbor arm is much better, as they also serve authentic Greek pitas.
I previously left a review for this restaurant where the service didn't meet my expectations, resulting in a three-star rating. However, I want to clarify that my review was not a reflection of the food quality. Overall, I found the food at this fish and chips shop to be good, but the service was slow. Today, my wife ordered two Chicken Souvlaki Meals from here through Just Eat. The order arrived on time, was well-packaged, and hot. Upon opening the box, I found a well-presented meal including fresh flatbread, salad, chips, and three skewers of deliciously cooked chicken with mild seasoning. The meal also came with a pot of chicken sauce. It was generous in portion size and extremely tasty. I highly recommend it as a healthier alternative to fish and chips. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise and a job well done.
Brought cod and chips from Papas, Canterbury Rd, Folkestone. The fish was over cooked and the fish was dry. At £18.00 an expensive meal for the cat!
