I have been living in Mackay for 2 years now and cannot believe it's taken me so long that I tried this restaurant for the very first time tonight. Easily the best Chinese I can remember ever eating! I recently visited Mackay for a few days and decided to go with Mackay's Golden Sun restaurant. The menu was quite extensive and opted for the Steamed Duck with Mushrooms and King Prawns with ginger and shallots. The duck was awful tuff and no flavour whatsoever. Very disappointing the prawns were not fresh and mushy and there was no sign of any ginger or shallots. I was not good the next day!!!! Very disappointing. read more.

Fabulous food and service nothing flash but the food is fantastic! Home made dim sims that I had steamed and prawn cocktails WOW so yummy !

We stumbled across the little gem while on a walk, so glad we did. The food was fresh and very tasty, and the service was friendly. Great value for money
