We had been driving in the Chianti region one Sunday and were delayed and rerouted around a bicycle race so that we did not end up where we wished to go for lunch and it was getting on towards 3 00 pm. Stopped at this pizzeria restaurant that was still open and were welcomed by the wife of the chef. The menu was quite extensive which was initially of some concern given where this restaurant was located that is very much an establishment for the local people in a reasonably small village off the beaten track and whether the food was fresh or frozen and how often the food would get turned over. We didn't have to wait long to have our initial concerns allayed. There were 4 of us and we shared a large caprese salad as a starter then had the veal schnitzel, the tagliata and a pasta dish with sides of salad and potatoes. The food was not outstanding or flashy but was very solid and edible. The wine menu was not extensive but we had a litre of house red which cost Euro6 (1/2 litre was Euro4). Service was very friendly and efficient.
Found this place almost by accident and had a wonderful treat! The food was excellent and maybe because our expectations were none existing we were overwhelmed by the truly good food, the friendly staff (family run I think) and the atmosphere of this place! It seems very local with local guests. This place gets all of our recommendations if you're in Taverna d'Arbia area! We ended up eating here 2 nights and getting take out pizzas on a third....just because it was so good!!
Small local place, not in Siena City but in Taverne D'Arbia. Nothing fancy, but very good, authentic food at reasonable prices and with swift, efficient and pleasant service. We had no expectations and were overwhelmed. I would rate the restaurant 4 stars but the food is worth 5 especially for value at price.
We looking for restorant in the area, two of them kick us out because we didn't have a reservation (though they were empty). We found this place accsidently and thought this is just for fill our hunger but it turn out to be one of the great restorant we have been in italy. Great food, we order pasta with porchini mushrooms and pizza with mushroom. It was fantastic, the dish arrive quickly and all was hand made. The service was good and the price was fair. In our opinion if you are looking for othentic restorant in the area, this is the ONE.
