"Visited recently, was expecting high things after seeing other reviews, I must have been eating in a different restaurant!! Starters very good, main poor poor poor, lasagne served with no additions of garlic bread or salad, chips served with others mains were frozen chips! Tiramisu is the worst I have ever eaten, a sponge cake with cream, have brought better from supermarkets, walked out wondering what I had paid for and certainly why I had paid it!!, Will never return"

"Our first visit to the chequers today. I just wanted to have a really nice lunch, how to travel north and we were not disappointed. a beautiful pub, very pleasant staff and excellent eating. the menu had many possibilities, something for everyone. beautifully presented, piping hot and...easy. also in contrast to many pubs the white wine was very well cooled. we will certainly be back and we look forward to it. Thank you all."
