"Bought pies, salads, porridge and chocolate to take back to rental cottage. Absolutely wonderful food actually nicer than the eye watering costly meal we'd had out in Grasmere the day before and for a fraction of the price. Pies were Lancashire cheese and onion and the Dhal Gobi. Delicious. The owners were lovely too even though my attempts at the self serve bit were poor. And the chocolate selection wow. You will definitely turn your nose up at the overpriced, sugar laden stuff sold elsewhere in Ambleside after eating the brands they stock. Not cheap but actually worth every penny. You get what you pay for and this place stocks healthy,tasty fuel not calorific rubbish."

"We were staying in Ambleside for a long weekend and took a walk to Lake Windermere. We were looking for a cafe for a bite to eat and came across the Pier Cafe. The staff were friendly and helpful. The views were perfect especially as it was such a gorgeous day. The food was delicious. A small full English breakfast and a BLT baguette plus two cappuccino's. It cost £25 for everything. I can definitely recommend visiting here and wouldn't hesitate if visiting the area again."

"Great experience. We were made very welcome with a little blanket for our little Norman to lie on. Service was very efficient and friendly. Atmosphere was very cosy with the log fire. Sunday lunches were delicious and plentiful, and our dog loved his doggy roast too. Would recommend. Booking was very easy via the website."
