"We received a friendly and polite welcome. It was so hot I was very glad that I had chosen to have dinner at Castello. They have a large area outside with well spaced tables with sun shade umbrellas. Sitting there we thought we really were in Italy. The menu offered a very good choice of Italian/Mediterranean dishes. The fish and salads we had were really memorable!!"

"There were just a handful of diners for our lunch time meal at the Clockspire which has a large open dining room. The cavernous space was cold and lacked atmosphere, exacerbated by so few fellow travellers. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. The kitchen offers fine dining and yet most of our dishes were over seasoned with salt very prominent. Portions were tiny and relatively expensive, as were wines. Overall the restaurant fails to offer value for money, and we are unlikely to return in the near future. "Absolutely disgusted in the Manager of this restaurant. Short, dark haired lady who refused to give us her name. She was on duty 5pm on 11 November. Despite us having an online confirmation email for a 5.30pm booking for my son’s birthday celebration, I was informed very rudely that our booking had been for 11am that morning and because we did not show, our credit card had been charged. How absolutely disgusting being treated by an employee of an establishment meant to be making money for the owner. Clearly the online system was glitching but even with a confirmation email in hand, we were not offered an apology, let alone a complimentary drink or being offered another table at a later time."

"This is by no means my first review of this lovely pub. But the consistency we find with their meals and the Sunday roast in particular is worth telling over and over. Today three of us all went for the roast beef melt in the mouth, and cut just as one wants it, rare for those of us who like it that way, through to well done if that's your preference. And served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, four seasonal vegetables (today it was red cabbage, broccoli, carrots and green beans) and lots of thick beef gravy. We chose not to have starters or desserts this time, opting for the large main meal alone and so ignoring the slightly smaller option. Today, had we not gone for the beef, we could have had the pork, which we have had on occasion, as it always comes with stuffing and perfect crackling. And it is always just as good great consistency that we've never found anywhere else, and price wise it's all amazing good value too. In short, it's hard to beat, on quantity, quality and price and little wonder therefore that it's always wise to book in advance. That said, Dave and Di run a place where nothing's too much trouble and they'll always fit you in if they can, but my advice is, when it comes to food this good, don't leave it to chance, pick up the phone and book. We already have, and we'll be back at our usual table next Sunday."

"Came here for lunch today, waited over twenty minutes to be served, then told hot food was a twenty minute wait, I only wanted a toasted sandwich. The staff had a no care attitude, the tea was cold, when our lunch arrived, they only made one sandwich, when I asked where the other sandwich was, she said it’s on its ways, she never came back and the other sandwich never materialised, I got up and left. I have been here a few times recently as I work in Yeovil and each time there has been an issue and it’s always chaotic, lacks leadership and organisation , needs a good manager in there and some staff that like there job. I will not be returning anytime soon."

"We found The Black Swan by chance as it was half way between our house in Cheddar and our friends in Dunkeswell, and what a find. Mike and his team made us so welcome, the food great and the service excellent despite there being a...group of about having a birthday lunch. We'll be back."
