"The overall experience was good today. the restaurant was clean and tidy. it has a free parking outside for customers. it is a little dark in the inner but on some tables and we had to ask to move to another table because it is too dark what hurts our eyes. with regard to the service, the employees were polite, but as can be seen from previous evaluators, they seem to be from Albanian origin, which we found that when asked to the host it was a simple yes or no answer. there was no engagement to establish a rapport as such and the team sometimes came as rude. they also forgot our water and drink order, which we had to remember. the menu had a lot of choice and a reasonable price given the table for these and drinks. I had to ask the manager to honor the discount of the gourmet company I said on the phone they accepted but not when I visited. but they have sorted it. they also accept here tastecard. the best part of the visit was in fact the food quality. large portion sizes and very well cooked, without problems today. the chicken was rich in taste and very delicate. the kalamari was slightly scattered and tasted and smelled after arriving. the chips were as they would expect; well salted and the right color. we asked for sauces and found that the mayonnaise was no longer from the date, but that was corrected by the host. Overall, I would think again to visit and give him a 7/10. nice eating can be done by the service of the team."

"A long family dinner. our first experience in the restaurant. very helpful, super with children, lots of nice touches, great eating, friendly staff and a nice tasty bite! we will definitely come back. a great restaurant in front of our doorstep, they go if they have not been. it's beautiful! x"

"Came here for lunch today, waited over twenty minutes to be served, then told hot food was a twenty minute wait, I only wanted a toasted sandwich. The staff had a no care attitude, the tea was cold, when our lunch arrived, they only made one sandwich, when I asked where the other sandwich was, she said it’s on its ways, she never came back and the other sandwich never materialised, I got up and left. I have been here a few times recently as I work in Yeovil and each time there has been an issue and it’s always chaotic, lacks leadership and organisation , needs a good manager in there and some staff that like there job. I will not be returning anytime soon."

"We planned a visit to the National Trust Montacute House and discovered this pub with good TA reviews close by. A great find, lovely welcome and an excellent lunch. We shared 3 starters and one main course and with 2 drinks and a coffee the bill came to £41 plus service."

"Amazing local pub with a great eating and a wide range of local made drinks harry’s cider rhubarb an absolute juwel . very helpful and accommodating owners found space to a large group of 12 people and 3 dogs on short get fed and welcome, although really busy! . each in the old different group 12 50 had something to do when in the contrary"

"I have to work in Somerset and Dorset occasionally and I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else, I love this hotel! The rooms are great, with some having a separate living space to where the bed is which is great for a week away from home. The mini fridge is packed full of different drinks and some chocolate. The beds are massive and very comfy. My only two complaints about the rooms are that the showers and televisions are quite old now and could do with replacing in my opinion. The hotel restaurant and bar are exquisite, the service is excellent and the menu is huge."

"Unfriendly rude landlady. We arrived at 7.40pm to be told they weren’t serving food even though website says 8pm. Landlady gave other customers they arrived after us a menu and subsequently took an order from them. This isn’t the first time we’ve experienced rude, unprofessional and disrespectful behaviour from this person. The other reviews in relation to her speak for themselves. Such a shame as it ruins what could be a lovely pub/restaurant."
