"There were just a handful of diners for our lunch time meal at the Clockspire which has a large open dining room. The cavernous space was cold and lacked atmosphere, exacerbated by so few fellow travellers. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. The kitchen offers fine dining and yet most of our dishes were over seasoned with salt very prominent. Portions were tiny and relatively expensive, as were wines. Overall the restaurant fails to offer value for money, and we are unlikely to return in the near future. "Lovely old thatched pub in a very peaceful village, about 9 miles from Ilminster. Our stay was outstanding, the shepherds hut was so cozy and dog friendly too. All the staff at the Mason Arms were warm and very welcoming. Food service was first class. We look forward to returning for another relaxing break, thank you"
