What Dorothée Seguin doesn't like about Madras Cafe:
Good experience at the extremely popular Madras Café. We decided to reach at the opening time 8.30 am from ~40 miles away, because we didn't find a seat on a previous afternoon visit. They run out of space pretty soon, I heard. Sambhar and chatni were okay. I was expecting them to be a little more typical. Dosas, Uttapams, Idli and Medu Wada were amazing. Very delicious! Best South Indian food in the Bay Area! Had masala dosa, Sambar, idli, vada and mango lassi. Worth the drive. Get there early as it gets very busy on weekends around brunch time. View all feedback.

read moreMadras Café, located in the Bay Area, is a popular restaurant known for its authentic South Indian cuisine. The restaurant may be crowded, but the tasty food and friendly staff make it worth the wait. Large portions can be challenging to finish for those accustomed to smaller servings in South India. Dishes like dosas, idlis, and vadas are highly recommended, while the sambar is particularly delicious. Although the coffee and tea may not be exceptional, the overall dining experience at Madras Café is positive. The quality of food has been consistent over the years, and the prices are affordable. Visitors looking for a taste of South India in California should definitely consider visiting Madras Café.
