Had a large breakfast that came with black pudding, 3 bacon, 2 sausage, fried potatoes, 1 full slice of fried bread, mushrooms, 2 eggs, beans and a cup of tea. The only thing that wasn't so tasty was the fried potatoes but I think that was personal preference. Waited over 30 mins from ordering to receiving our food. The staff showed brilliant customer service and so pleasant. Good price View all feedback.
What stuart sneddon doesn't like about Hilary And Iain By Sea:
Not a good experience unfortunately. Eventually ordered (waiting for the girl on the till to take order) a take away fish and chips. Was told it would take 30 mins. Bit long but we were planning on having a walk around so ok with that. Had a walk around and came back to get the order. Waited to be acknowledged maybe 5 mins. I then had to wait another 20 to 25 mins. When we got to eat the food the chips were nice but... View all feedback.
We stopped in for lunch while strolling along the beach. It's a bit of a walk from the shore, but definitely worth it! The cheese and ham melt allows you to choose between white or brown bread, and it comes with a side of salad and chips. The sandwich was enormous, generously filled with ham and cheese, and absolutely delicious. We chose to sit inside since it was a bit hot outside. There are outdoor tables available, but the inside was more comfortable. The restaurant accommodates a table for six, two tables for four, and one table for two, so I imagine it could be challenging to find a seat when it's busy. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a great lunch!
The atmosphere is reminiscent of a beach bistro, but the food rivals that of a five-star hotel, all served in generous portions at reasonable prices. Our dining experience at Hilary and Iain's was nothing short of fantastic. My husband enjoyed perfectly cooked lamb, while I had a vibrant and plentiful sea bass salad. The homemade chili sauce was absolutely delightful. We decided to try one of the monthly wines, and it was fantastic! Unfortunately, we were too full to sample the homemade cakes, which looked tempting. The staff was friendly and efficient. We only wish we could have visited a second time during our stay; it's definitely worth a detour if you're in the area. Prepare for a truly happy meal!
The dining area is somewhat small, but there are tables available outside. It was definitely worth the wait for our food, as everything was fresh, well-presented, and served hot. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely return to this place when I'm in Ogmore By Sea. Service: Dine-in, Meal type: Brunch.
We went for breakfast when the restaurant opened at 10:30 on a Sunday. We ordered two full English breakfasts, which took 40 minutes to arrive, despite the place being quiet and our order being the first of the day. The breakfast was nice, similar to what you would expect at a decent greasy spoon cafe, but nothing extraordinary. Based on other reviews, it seems that lunch or dinner might be a better option.
The food is fantastic, as always, and of top quality. I highly recommend it. You’re always greeted with a warm welcome, and the bill is pleasantly surprising for such great food.
