I visited with my wife and mum in law. Roast pork, roast beef, or a mixture. Both meats were cooked to perfection and side dishes brought to table to serve yourself so you could eat as much as you wanted. Sue and the staff are so friendly and you can see they enjoy being good hosts. Definitely the place to go but make sure you book places are limited View all feedback.

We had a weeks holiday in north Devon and visited a lot of nice restaurants and pubs, but no place we visited treated us quite as nice as the guys from the First In Last Out! We had a 5 month old baby and 2 dogs and the landlady gave us the most convenient seats to suit our baby and dogs, and the food was brilliant! Simple pub grub cooked fantastic with very generous portions and all cooked fresh. Such a wonderful atmosphere in the pub with fantastic staff and friendly locals. Such a great night. We will be back for sure!!!!
First visit since the pub changed hands 3years ago. Impressive from the moment you walk through the door. Lovely clean feel. Lunch was for 'two and a dog ', so we were unable to eat in the restaurant. Instead we were seated in The Cottage, a snug area just off the bar that felt like private dining. I had roast pork with an extra slice of beef (for the dog). My friend had roast beef. Lovely thick slices of meat, a choice of 7 vegetables, served separately, including my favourite, cabbage. . Delicious young parsnips, Cauliflower cheese, fine green beans, carrots, cabbage, swede and the best roast potatoes ever. Gravy, horseradish and apple sauce accompanied it all. All this for under a tenner per head!! Drinks prices are very reasonable too. There is a large, well kept garden and they offer a function room and catered buffets. Sadly there is no onsite parking, but there are several nearby lanes and we had no trouble finding a free parking in one if them. As you can imagine booking is essential. The landlord and staff are welcoming and efficient. An all round good find and we will be back. If we don 't make a booking the dog probably will Blessings to the cook (s)
