Simply Tops Seafood Bar - Townsville

Had the fish burger with crumbed mackerel which was delicious and quite filling. With friendly hard working staff and a hood menu, it's well worth dropping in for a bite.

If you love fish and chips like I do, you'll like the food here. I was a little disappointed with the fish; a little overdone for my taste. The chips were hot and crispy moist; ideal. Not a big selection of condiments. Tartar wasn't available or it wasn't pointed out to me. The service was friendly enough but needed a little cheerfulness too. It's in a handy location, near all the other eating houses. The outdoor dining is perfect for Townsville's climate.

The fish at this restaurant was satisfactory, while the chips were just okay. The pros include the delicious fried fish and grilled garlic bugs, but the cons are that the chips were not up to par. It was a hot and humid day in February and the restaurant only had fans, which made it too warm for some diners. Overall, I would prefer to visit SOS Seafood on Magnetic Island instead.

In my opinion, Simply Tops is the best fish and chips shop I have ever eaten at. I have been a loyal customer since the 1980s. My favorite dish is the battered fish and salad sandwich. The outdoor dining area offers a pleasant breeze from Ross Creek.
