Fantastic staff, lovely food, portion sizes are huge, our daughter (who is autistic) was struggling a little bit after a long drive and all staff were so kind and one chap spotted her face when another customer was being a little loud in a nice way! I'm so sorry I could only leave a £2 tip .. the dessert menu was pure naughtiness View all feedback.
What Alexa Cook doesn't like about The Black Horse Pembury:
Apart from tricky parking, this pub is simply unbeatable. The service is attentive and efficient, the decor is cosy, the tables are clean, the menu extensive, the portions HUGE, the prices fair and the food absolutely delicious. Returning next week! View all feedback.
How happy were we?! immediately when we came in, everyone was beautiful. Bar staff incredibly friendly and one of the regulars gave up his table so we could sit there to eat. would not even take a drink of...us eating was fantastic sea bass the winner of the evening. what started as a box stop before a concert became a highlight of the day. we are so grateful!
We were friends today and my mom here for lunch, most impressed by the pub. the carvery was of good quality and much of it and amazing worth at the price with a dessert of their choice from a great list. most impressed...will go back and recommend.
Popped in for a late lunch with my wife and sat in the garden in the sunshine. Friendly bar staff. Both had the mussels starters which were ok and the bread was nice. My wife had the surf and turf main, priced at £40, which...surely would deliver at that price. Sadly not. The lobster was ok but the steak, cooked rare as requested, was grey, under seasoned and tasteless. She didn't finish it and didn't even bother asking for a doggy bag. She felt it was the worst steak she had ever eaten. I went for the chicken fajitas which arrived sizzling on a platter. The chicken was dry, massively under seasoned and the red peppers and onions weren't cooked properly. The salad I didn't even touch as it was so painfully boring to look at. My three tortillas were like cardboard and I ate just half of one and then gave up. Chips were only randomly cooked through so we both left most of those also. We gave feedback to the waitress when she cleared the table and went to pay. Whilst paying at the bar the licensee went behind the bar without acknowledging us in the slightest and told the lady taking our payment to take the fajitas off the bill. No apology; not even the time of day was paid to us. He even said to her tell them the fajitas have been taken off the bill'...why on earth he couldn't tell us directly is beyond me! It was rude beyond belief. We paid and left. Over the years we have been to many carvers, seafood evenings and meals out with family and friends at The Black Horse. I will never step through the door again and waste my money. I will do my utmost to make sure that anyone who asks why will learn the truth. What a dreadful experience!
Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday carvery here today. Excellent value and massive portions. Lots of choice, beautifully cooked meats and delicious veggies. Super kind, friendly and helpful staff too. A la carte menu was extensive and looked great, just in case you don't fancy the amazing...carvery.
Michelle and the team were amazing. I suffer a lot with allergies, but that wasn't a problem at all. instead of telling me everything I didn't have, michelle concentrated on everything I had. I had so much choice and nothing was too much trouble....Word the black horse recommended to everyone.
