Surprisingly lunch wasn't packed for a Sunday afternoon so we were seated promptly.
We just left Pappadeaux for dinnerIt was amazingKy was our serverVery helpful and was ready to answer any questions I had.
I usually eat at Pappadeaux on Westheimer (the one near Galleria), but we decided to stop here on the way to our hotel near the airport.

"Beautiful café from the main Kilauea Avenue. Spacious and well lit inside, lots of parking in front/side, plus more behind the building. The food was delicious, the service was fast and friendly. Open kitchen, you can see that your food is being prepared."

"Food was bad. Service was HORRIBLE. DISGUSTING AND RUDE KITCHEN STAFF. Not a great place to have food at. 1. Staff is very rude when complained about sour palak paneer (probably due to cream), under cooked lamb, undercooked peas, sour mango lassi, burned veg pakora they said next time food will be better. On requesting if they can cook it again for us, they rudely declined. This is tourist place where we will not come again. 2. Ambiance was not welcoming. When we complained to the chef and manager they were more interested in cutting the talk about the food and doing small talk about where we are from. Bathrooms, sitting area as unclean and unhygienic. Unfortunately there aren't any other Indian food options on Big Island otherwise their business would have shutdown already. Their other branch in Kona has really good food. Probably the kitchen staff including the cook are good people who know their job and are good reasonable human beings. "My family and I went to Hawaiian Style Cafe in Hilo recently and my biggest complaint (and only complaint) was that all foods looked delicious and we live in California, so we need to wait until the next vacation to try other things. The food was exceptional and the waiting staff was friendly and efficient. Just the best meal we had in Hawaii."

"This is the hardest review I 've ever done. Ken 's has been a staple in our lives for most of our lives. You can not go to Hilo side without going to Ken 's. Until now. First, the good. The staff was wonderful, friendly, helpful, talk story. The food came out very quick. But sadly, the portions are half the size they use to be but double the price. It 's hard to see in the pictures because I try to make all my pictures look good but they 're no longer the large platers or tub size bowls. Which is probably better for our waistline but not when the pancakes with bananas are $18.95. Our bill for a family of four after tips was $89.00. We understand covid issues and recent inflation issues but in comparison, our bill at TK Noodles, two days later, which I consider a higher end hawaiian fusion restaurant in Kona was the same price. We also noticed it was pretty empty which was never the case before and it was during Merrie Monarch. While another Hawaiian Style type of restaurant down the road was so full, it had a waiting list to get in. We hope things eventually balance out for this beloved place."

"Great place. We ordered in the takeout window and the service was phenomenal. I have the Teriyaki chicken and baked shrimp combination plate. Unbelievable food and much of it at the price! I highly recommend it."
