Stopped by for lunch with a friend. We ordered the full Nelson sandwich that came with delicious sourdough bread. The cheese in the sandwich was also pretty tasty. We loved the ambience of the cafe. There were so many cool notes in the drawer of the table we sat at. Overall it was a lovely experience. View all feedback.
What Rickey Hackett doesn't like about Nelson The Seagull:
I really liked the flavour of the rooibos tea, but it was served lukewarm, as was the hot chocolate. The sourdough served with the Peaches on Toast was not toasted. The peaches were sort of carmelized. The ricotta was bland and gritty, and the walnuts were just walnuts. Not candied, roasted, salted...nothing to bring out the flavour or to warrant the $9.50 price tag. The cozy atmosphere was ruined by the disorganizat... View all feedback.
I love the sourdough here. Beautiful crisp crust on the outside, nice and tender crumb on the inside. My favourite is the Fig and walnut Loaf. Perfect with just some butter. The best part, it arrived at my house so fresh that it was even slightly warm.
Excellent sourdough! And I don’t even like sourdough… Also very good baked goods here. I would recommend carrot cake, ham&cheese croissant, and chocolate chip cookie. Their coffee is good, too. It has balanced flavour with a hint of acidity. The cafe is clean, spacious, and airy with decent amount of sitting room. It is though, located in the sketchy area of town. Not sure if you want to sit outside chairs. And the seagull’s name was NelsonNelson the seagull free ?
An absolute delight! The food and coffee are fantastic, and it is always a pleasure to support a small local business. I’ll make it a point to return the next time I’m in Vancouver!

A great place to go study while having a snack and coffee or even to meet your friends for coffee. The neighborhood is not the best but the atmosphere and the rustic look of the cafe makes up for it. Very aesthetically pleasing and the food is tasty too. Would visit again.
