"Le saumon restaurant (have not tested the hotel part was just what we needed for a local stop and taste in Verneuil sur Avre. The atmosphere is a bit 'strict ', so not too modern hip young, but the food in the plate was well made and obviously home made, as all sauces jus and dishes had the mark of freshness (fresh herbs, etc... not coming from a plastic pot from a supermarket... I really enjoyed my veal head dish (tete de veau . as it was moist, tender and delicious. Good selections of wines and local drinks ciders etc..."

"I first went to this restaurant in L'Aigle, Normandy on the recommendations of friends. I have been back 3 times since and each time I have enjoyed the experience, the changing menu and the relaxed ambiance. They have added an outdoor courtyard since my first visit and on a summer night it was a lovely place to sit back and enjoy a meal with everyone around you clearly doing the same. The food is traditionally french but with a modern twist eg tempura snails). The menu is varied and it's hard to choose your preferred dish although I recommend the snails, the beef and the fish. The staff speak enough English to make selection and ordering simple yet their smiles encourage you to try your french. If you enjoy good food, want ambiance and an authentic Normandie experience I can highly recommend the Auberge . You will come away smiling. Ps save some for the dessert carte!"
