Grazie Mario! This was by far the best restaurant in town. Many others are recommended or have better ratings at google which I cannot confirm. Mario, the owner, was very welcoming and did a great service. Food was outstanding and presentation nice. Not mentioning the view which is probably the best you can get in town! What Dmitry N doesn't like about Il Rifugio Dei Naviganti Di Pesce A Ponza:
Well.. the ambiance is beautiful, the portions are small, the food is ok, but the salads are not good (simple to an extreme) and surely there was not enough of octopus in the octopus salad. If you’re looking for an impressive setting in the harbour in order to sip your as expensive glass of wine, you might like this place. If you’re in search of a hearty meal, it’s not for you. We had dinner at the beginning of October attracted by the enchanting location and refined environment. We had seen high prices but wanted to pamper ourselves. Unfortunately, a large part of the menu was not available due to the end of the season....and so we must either redo the menu with what is available, or communicate it immediately. Even the wine chosen was not available and they asked us if it was okay to replace it with another label that wasn't even on the wine list. The poor waiter was not in the profession and did his best. But with the asking price I expect professional service and a precise menu. Poor frying, good and seasoned paccheri al S. Pietro, anonymous mixed grill. For the desserts, only 1 Sfogliatella was available, the ones from the bakery were better, paid 8 euros, without even a bit of garnish. In the end they wanted to offer us a fennel liqueur, but a limoncello arrived because the other one was finished. Exhilarating!!! I'm sorry but you need to review your standards. The end of season excuse doesn't hold up. If you can't stay in line with the prices you ask for, close early or review the price list. The following evenings we continued on. Disappointed

On July 10, 2023, my whole family went to the Il Rifugio dei Naviganti restaurant on Ponza Island. While the restaurant is in a beautiful place by the sea, we had some problems with the food and service. First, it was hard to order our meals. Some meals on the menu were not available because we came during the day. Also, the people who worked there didn 't speak much English, so we had to use Google Translate to communicate, which was not very helpful. One big issue was when we tried to order lobster from their aquarium. The price on the menu was confusing: /H. We later figured out that /H meant the price for 100 grams of lobster. When we expressed our concern about the seemingly high cost, the waiter hurried to the kitchen and returned with the sizzling lobster on a pan, delivering an emotional explanation that our order couldn 't be cancelled as they were already in the process of preparing it. We reassured him, and the order remained in place, after which we continued to wait for our dishes to be prepared. It made us feel like they were trying to trick tourists. Not having an English menu in a tourist spot is a big problem, and the meals didn 't seem worth the price we paid. In the end, we can 't recommend this restaurant because of the problems with the meals, the language issue, and the overall disappointing experience.
