"As always, the food was exquisite and the wait staff, appropriately friendly. I highly recommend the halibut and the Dover sole. Now the disappointing side of our evening. We were seated at 7:00 and the restaurant was only moderately filled. By the time our salads finally appeared, the tables that were seated after we arrived had finished their appetizers and were onto their main courses. After two hours of waiting, we finally got our entrees. The explanation was that there was a “snafu” in the kitchen. Our meal was well worth the wait, which came with a complementary glass of champagne. I appreciate the staff trying to make up for the slow service from the kitchen."

"Visiting DC we were told multiple times we had to go to old ebbitt inn. I made my reservation for people one month in advance. The only thing I was disappointed in was as we were brought through the actual old beautiful interior I realized we were being seated in this other room that’s basically the lobby of the building behind it. I was bummed. I didn’t even speak up because I just knew it would get me no where. I love old historic places so I didn’t really get to be where I wanted to be: Later when I went to bathroom i looked around and it did seem like all larger groups would have to sit in that outside area. I would have decided our group happily to sit inside. If you want to take in the real ambience I’d make sure you request the main interior area. That being said. I loved the food and service. The strawberry shortcakes was Devine"
