What User doesn't like about Tio Pepe:
Totally ripped off over the wine and charged 60 euros per bottle ....never again. The waitress said she had no wine list and told us the price.... We all heard 19.50 she maintains she said 59.50 ... there's simply no need to pay that price for good wine in a restaurant in Essen. View all feedback.
I visited the restaurand with some colleagues on the rain night. we tried many of the foods and some drinks. Drinks are good, some foods too, some other foods were quite salty. it's a little minus my side. Unfortunately, the main problems were that there was terrible kitchen smell in the whole restaurant this evening. After my departure I had to ventilate all my clothes (due to the business trip I had not too many spare clothes). therefore I do not really recommend the place.
Totally demolished over the wein and calculates euro per bottle .never again. the waitress said she had no wine list and told us the price. We all heard that she claims that it is simply not necessary to pay this price for...good wee in a restaurant in eat.
The food is unfortunately only average for Spanish cuisine and overpriced for the quality of the foods compared to other Spanish restaurants in Essen, düsseldorf or frankfurt. patatas a la pobre were very simple, albondigas were in order, pulpo a la gallega was a bit cold and the part was too small. the only court that was missing nothing was somego queso a la sevillana, I really enjoyed it. the service was also very good. in all, unfortunately, not really worth a visit.

We dined outside that evening because of the heat and there is no fan in the resturant. Owing to the smell of the food, so many huge green flies were attracted. I didn't enjoy it and the only waiter there said he couldn't do anything....It's true. What could he do? Waving his hands above our tapas? The food was ok in general but the chorizo was not as tasty as before I tried in winter time. The octopus was tasteless and sandy and the potatoes underneath was just boiled with loads of olive oil. I wanted to eat Paella and asked whether they would take any special order out of their menu. Oh the waiter came back with an answer Euro each'! That's not cheap. All in all, we had glasses of wine, one large bottle of sparkling water and tapas parma ham, olives, octopus, sardines, cold soup, cost less than Euro.
