(Note: I would have forgiven five stars, but for HappyCow policy (no perfect evaluations for restaurants that serve animal products has made me a fact to be very grateful to me from this place! menu almost completely plant with some additional options for omnivores (very refreshing change in contemplating other places in townsville). they love to build their own breakfast option the macadamia feta, crushed avo, and sauteed shrooms are ingenious on homemade brot. they run from a very friendly and accommodating crew that sorts out my brunch and caffeine requirements. highly recommended updated by previous review on 2020-09-14.

"Went to stage door theatre last night and i can safely say really great night out! Good food! Funny jokes! Nice people! I will be back like arnold Schwarzenegger says.Drinks are a little on the expensive, but really didnt need the buzz to enjoy the fun. Worth a look. Well done captain martini and pearl e gates. Thanks for taking us on a trip to purgatory!!!"

"The gelato was decent but nothing special and could not compare with Messina or the multiple other artisan gelato places in larger cities. I tried several flavours trying to find one that hit the spot but aside from the ferrero rocher, nothing else was that palatable, and the staff were getting impatient, whispering amongst themselves and giving each other glances like I was a cheapskate who wasn’t going to buy anything, so I bought two flavours for myself and one for my mother out of courtesy. It’s a cute store but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again."

"Food was undoubtedly superb and the best on the island. Very tasty and well presented. Also came out quickly with a very decent beverage menu. Beautiful ambience and building with very delightful artwork. Perfect location for date night except… The experience was tainted by the arrogant/rude/obnoxious owner (tall old guy with glasses named ? Dave) who lacked basic manners such as 'please ' or 'thank you '. Tried to engage him in some talk about his food, was completely disinterested and looked at me arrogantly and dismissively. Strange behaviour for someone who is described as a “restauranteur” on a predominantly tourist island. Disappointing as the rest of the staff were otherwise very pleasant, but perhaps fortunate for him that they don 't follow his absolutely poor example. Seems like this old fella is a serial offender with his behaviour given reviews below and would be much better for all if he wasn 't there. Otherwise, this restaurant is top notch and would be an institution for the island. Avoid the old tall guy and perhaps you will enjoy better than we did."
