"Bought pies, salads, porridge and chocolate to take back to rental cottage. Absolutely wonderful food actually nicer than the eye watering costly meal we'd had out in Grasmere the day before and for a fraction of the price. Pies were Lancashire cheese and onion and the Dhal Gobi. Delicious. The owners were lovely too even though my attempts at the self serve bit were poor. And the chocolate selection wow. You will definitely turn your nose up at the overpriced, sugar laden stuff sold elsewhere in Ambleside after eating the brands they stock. Not cheap but actually worth every penny. You get what you pay for and this place stocks healthy,tasty fuel not calorific rubbish."

"Staying locally for a short break and being a big curry fan I decided to research the area for a suitable restaurant. No.3 Curry house sounded very good so decided to order , we had for mains Tikka Naga Kahari, both chicken dishes. All the food was of a very high standard , service was also excellent. If in the area do not hesitate to order as we will when next visiting. Food: 5"

"Five stars not enough. the restaurant itself is small with just a few diners per seat. flawless and personable service and showcasing has the best food cumbria to offer. all of the highest quality and creativity and flair was obvious. no real room for improvement! "Happy cow recommendation and not disappointed. Quirky Pub the smallest pub in the Lake District. Many vegan options. We had Craftys Three Cheese Garlic Blend with vegan cheese £9.00, which was clearly marked as a VG option. Had to wait a while, but it's worth it. It is a filler, so to be warned, you cannot need dinner. Presented on a slate with Coleslaw, root warps and a pear, all very delicious. They serve Whitley Neill Gin, who are all vegan (except Rhubarb Ginger after their website, so please check out). Great atmosphere and music! Updated by previous rating on 2022 02 24"

"Lovely cosy restaurant, all the tables were well spaced out so you weren't listening to other conversations. Food was tasty and well presented, and delivered by staff with a smile. Would definitely visit again if we were in the area. Thankyou Porto for the extra touches for my birthday!"
