The Swallowed Anchor, right in the heart of Wollongong, is a warm, friendly place to eat and have a drink. I've been there twice now and am looking forward to going back again. The first time we sampled the great tapas menu. The second time we just had a drink after the Eat Street markets on a Thursday night.Annah and Ryan provide a friendly and welcoming service. "I went with a friend and the new fit-out in the back room was quite comfortable. The coffee was excellent but we were disappointed by the Banh Xeo that we both ordered. The pancake was overcooked and so hard that I couldn't cut mine and...had to leave it. My friend said that her meal greasy. The service was quick but the coffee was a bit undersized for the price and no one came over to see if we wanted another coffee or asked how our meal was. A bit overrated, unfortunately, but maybe there are other pressures at play. It's an interesting place which used to be an antique and gift shop back in the 1960s when the timber was polished to perfection. It's a bit too rustic and rushed for my liking and the food was just not that good."
