I had to submit a review here for tunstall cross, as I was very impressed by their standards. in terms of food quality and friendly service they are consistently excellent. I don't know any other stores I have visited (including those who usually win the prizes) that have surpassed this consistency to be honest. "Coldish saturday afternoon in December. Every pub and bar in town was packed to overflowing, but this small pub, (micro pub really) sandwiched between two other pubs was quieter with spare seating. Started with a local brew, sat outside and conversed congenially with a local. Went inside for second drink. Fancied something different and asked if a wheat beer was available. The lady said no. A gent at the bar said they had Leffe if I wanted Belgian and pointed to a bottle on the shelf. Next to it I noticed a bottle of Blue Moon . I suggested this was in a wheat beer, but she was adamant it was not it was a white beer. I insisted and she inspected it and then agreed it was indeed wheat. She did apologise, but I was disappointed I had to tell her about her job. The beer was enjoyable. Did not eat, but looking at the blackboard I would say it was more light snacks than proper meals but prices looked ok."

"This is our first afternoon tea in the shop after having two takeaway teas over the last 2 years in lockdown. All i can say is wow. Richards cakes are amazing, so light. Everything is so tasty. We've had afternoon teas at other places in...the past but this knocks the socks off them all."
