"Today, as we often do when in Pukekohe, we lunched at Ginger. Until today, we have always been delighted with the quality of the food and the value. They do a lunch special of curry of your choice, well presented rice and naan bread. The impact of COVID and of the insane inflationary overspending of our present government have driven up prices for everybody, but Ginger still represented good value. Until today, that is. My wife was not hungry enough for her naan bread, so said we would share just one today. Nothing else was changed. The rip-off artist on the counter charged us full price, not the advertised lunch special rate. I didn't notice until my debit card had been read in. Hey, I said it's 36 dollars, not 41. No, he said, because you didn't take it unchanged, it wasn't the special as advertised. So I have to charge full price for every component. I asked are you saying that taking less of one component (Connie's naan bread) costs five dollars more? Yes, he said, because we have to make it specially. And your transaction is already processed, so I can't change it. He shrugged. We will never go back again. Ginger Restaurant, today lost two formerly loyal customers for ever. "Went here for the first time with friends and was pleasantly surprised. The food was well worth the money. I ordered the chicken schnitzel on mash with salad, DELICIOUS! And the schnitzel was huge, I was definitely getting my money's worth. Good service, good atmosphere. Loses a star because the meal came with mushroom sauce but was a really small portion of it for a huge chicken. Didn't even cover an 8th of the chicken size which was disappointing but not enough for me to not want to get it again. Will definitely come back!"

"First i really loved hearing nepalese music in the backround! Makes it a unique real experience. The manager was very friendly and helpful. 70% on their menu can be made vegan! I tried the nepalese taco (main part was a fried mash poatato with veggies =delicous fresh flavours) i also tried the vegan dessert. Sweet cooked rice wich i love we used to eat that back home in germany too. This was with dates , raisins and was nice creamy. Couldn't finish all. So the half was my brekkie for the next day. They even have a vegan lassie. But i was too full to try that too!"

"I had a garlic naan and the Methi malai paneer that came with a pyramid of rice. I wanted the dish very hot but it was made mild. The food was really tasty though. I would of liked more garlic on the naan even though it was small. I will definitely go back and would recommend this dish."

"The menu is about half vegan. it's mock meat hard so I didn't expect to like much, but I was pleasantly surprised. we tried the ‘prawn’ noodles I had never loved, really prawn so I found the textur strange), but I liked the lychee ‘pork’ and really liked the tofu salad. my companion also had the “Hähnchen”-Buo, that was the bigger bao I have ever seen. the whole part was huge. in any case go back and try some other things from the menu."

"One of the best fine dining experience I've ever had in new zealand and Australia. All the flavors in the dishes are very well balanced with amazing mixture of textures. The most memorable dishes for me was the prawn scallop entrees and the wagyu with consomme. Service was top notch and an excellent wine selective. Good price for the quality as well. Highly recommend"
