"Good size room. Enough space for a travel cot without feeling cramped. Had 2 evening meals, both of which have been superb. Breakfast was also very good. Staff are very polite and helpful. Decent drink selection at the bar."

"Popped in as was moored up in Carnforth for the night and wanted to watch live football. We got a nice welcome in a friendly boozer. There is no food here and dogs are allowed inside but neither is an issue with me. The locals...and bar staff were all friendly, e got to see the footie and the beer was blooming lovely. A good boozer!!"

"Not the best food if I’m honest could be so much better. I got chicken in a basket which was huge a pile of chips with 3 chicken strips on the top very average, my friend steak was well done when he asked for medium rare, and my girlfriends chicken burger was greasy. One thing I will say is all the serving staff where very helpful and friendly. The menu hasn’t changed much since the last time I went in a few years ago And they ran out of spiced rum on a Saturday evening. Management need a shake up with better organisation on stock and some new ideas."

"Stumbled across this cafe whilst on a day trip to Lancaster. Was really impressed. Varied selection of delicious vegan and vegetarian food, wonderful atmosphere in the cafe and service was top notch too. The staff were friendly and warm despite the cafe being super busy. This was the first time in many years I have visited Lancaster and the I think I will make the trip sooner just to have lunch at the Whale Tail."

"We met up with friends plus beagle dog at the Bayhorse , Ellel near Lancaster for a second time this year , while away on our hols in Cumbria . The food was even better than our previous trip in April which...was pretty good then too Had amazing starters , locally produced cured salmon pickled beets pork terrine that we couldn’t get enough of too ! This was followed by super tasty confit of duck legs , seasonal spiced red cabbage , beautiful compliment of jus with blackberries ended on a great homemade orange almond cake . We have eaten in many great gastric pubs restaurants all over the UK are fussy the quality of the food and the excellent , attentive service welcoming feel given by the staff certainly made it worth the trip . Thanks for giving us such a nice time we heartily recommend this place , for a great relaxing lunch with really good tasty food nice atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble either . We will be back if we had this quality inn on our doorstep , we would be back far more often . What a real gem of a place !"

"We stayed overnight in our camper in their car park with the caveat that we have a meal in the pub. Very glad we did as this is possibly the most hospitable pub and the most friendly staff I have come across. This coupled with brilliant food and drink made it a perfect overnight stay. We only live 35 minutes away but I think we will be making this a regular stop over just to get away for a night or two. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Beer Battered Fish and Chips, Apple Crumble and Custard"
