"While not faultless this place is pretty unique. A lot of unusual plates most of which worked well. As well as a lot of smoked food there is liberal use of strong herbs and dry and salty flavours. I would call it ‘adult’ food and not for the fussy or faint hearted. It’s more of an ‘experience’! A bit of constructive advice would be to have a few more respite mainstream items rather than so much smoked or plates with a twist. But I’d certainly recommend it!"

"Booked for Sunday Lunch once shown to our table realised that nearly every other table was also reserved! (Obviously very popular, so be warned to book early! The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and our food drinks arrived very quickly. The roast pork, beef lamb we chose individually were very tender and good sized portions. The many vegetables were cooked to perfection too, and we even had room for desserts! Will definitely go back!"

"Came here for hangover refreshment also known as cooked breakfast. I was not in this opposite before the most beautiful city richmond, which is currently celebrating its 951th year. this place was spacious and warns too busy. the staff was friendly and the food came quickly after the order that was standard as expected and it did the work! would definitely come back."

"I am amazed by the reviews I have read based on our encounter with Keith .. I understand the community own the pub but surely it is a business and not a toy for the locals?? We booked a Lunch here months ago and was looking forward to a hearty home made roast in a warm, friendly yorkshire pub but all we got was a rude, impolite barman whi was not helpful and clearly disorganised. In contranst we were served by a very polite young waitress and had several chats with a lovely Geordie lady but that is where it stops. So disappointed and we had high hopes of using here throughout our stay in the dales but this encounter put us off. Such a pity."

"Lovely local pub very friendly bar staff and locals, fantastic and cheap beer with the best bar snacks I have ever tasted Hugh chunks of scotch eggs and pork pies (growlers) with a glorious apple sauce topping I had to be dragged away. But take cash they only accept real money"
