"We booked a triple private room, which was quite tight. The beds were comfortable with a fluffy comforter, which was needed because the rooms are not heated well. There is only one outlet in the room, which can be in high demand. The communal restrooms were usually clean and the pay showers were hot and long enough for a good washing. The gender signs were not big enough and many times the males were in the female's and vice versa. Dinner was cafeteria style and not bad, but industrial. The house wine was horrendous. Go for a bottle. The worst experience is the doors. With the automatic door closers slamming constantly and quite loud with patrons continually going in and out, sleep can be a challenge. If you need a base for hiking, it fills the bill, but I would not return if not necessary"

"Booked for 5 people for lunch one Sunday because of passage. Very suggestive place, on the lake, ancient structure with a new expanded part. Products of their production and very kind staff. We ordered 4 first dishes (typical pumpkin casunzei and beetroot) and a Tabià dish a portion of polenta half liter of red, water, 2 sweets and coffee. We then took some products to bring home (cheese, yogurt and polenta). In total we spent 115€ and offered us their grappa (special)."

"We booked Fonda Savio by email for the last night of our 6 day hut to hut Via Ferrata trip. The response from Florian Pornbacher was quick and helpful. She and the staff spoke good english and were helpful. She can come across as a bit forceful but if you are friendly and appreciative she is a charming host. Refugi have to be run with a firm routine or they become unworkable which perhaps other reviewers do not appreciate this hut is at 2300m! Other comments re beds beds are by nature packed in it's a mountain hut... She even saw that we were a couple and offered us the 2 person room : and made sure we didn't head off up the VF in the rain. The refuge has warm water and very clean new WC facilities. The bunk beds are wood which makes a welcome change from the squeaky metal ones many other huts in the area use. Staff wear mountain dress which is a nice touch to add atmosphere. Dinner was very tasty and filling with 3 good courses and the usual good value wine. Breakfast also filling with cheese and ham. So all in all a charming little hut with grand views down the valley. Also VF Merlone is a very airy treat not to be missed just across the glacial valley."
