"Since we returned to North Bay, we've been disappointed in the absence of a good source of fish and chips. We decided to give Ivan's a try, even though it's not a fish specialty spot.Tonight, Ivan's won the fish and chip prize. The fish was perfectly cooked and tender. The serving size was generous and the price was reasonable. The dish was better than a nearby fish restaurant and it offered better value.Service is a bit different at Ivan's. You line up to place your order and get an identifying number to place on your table. When your meal is ready, it's delivered to you. The system works well, but there's a odd element to it. Since no individual wait person is directly responsible for a particular zone in the restaurant, four different servers cruised by to ask how everything was. Yes, it's nice to have someone check to make sure that everything was all right, but when it comes in multiples, it begins to get tedious.Other than "Is it okay, okay, okay, okay" the experience was good and we will return."

"Went on a week night, Only one other table was filled. There were 7 at our table and six at the other. Our meal was over an hour in coming and mine was lukewarm at best. The pasta others had ordered was OK but under seasoned. We were never offered coffee or a refill of the bread supplied. In fact, when we actually asked for it,we were told we could not have a refill.as the chef would have to leave his cooking in order to do it. Really! No one was capable of cutting a loaf of bread and putting a spoonful of warm huumus on the side!! The white house wine was unavailable, they had run out. Although our server was charming and apologetic she did not have the authority to compensate us in any way as the manager and owner was out of town.Altogether a ruined evening as I had travelled over 3 hours to join the family reunion.Will never go back."

"My partner and I walked in before 4pm and waited as the host (Dean) was on the phone for 5+ minutes (not even acknowledging us, but benefit of the doubt). A couple came in and walked past and sat. I waited and asked if we should sit down ignored. I took that as a note to sit down so we did. Another couple walked in and the host put down the phone, picked up menus and escorted them to a table. We waited a few minutes more until we saw him go back on the phone and decided to leave. All customers should be treated and served equally."

"I attended the Feast of Champions this December. I have eaten at Chicago Cafe many time, for lunch, dinner and Feasts. I enjoy the variety and quality of the food. The smoked duck breast with kimchi carrots is one of my favourites. I also highly recommend the Mandarin Sizzling Rice, Chilli Pepper Salt Tiger Shrimp and Squid and the Spicy Peanut Lamb."

"Pinehill Coffee shop has the best burgers EVER! My suggestion is the Bevie Burger... check out the pic. I used to try bacon-cheese burgers elsewhere ... to see if I could find one that compared with Pinehills Bevie ...I gave up trying... the Bevie is...the Best!!! The place is spotless, the food is yum yum, and the staff are excellent ...of course they are mentored by the best Bev . Best kept secret in North Bay!"
