"A busy restaurant is normally a good sign and Sichuan Spice certainly had the punters rolling in just after opening. Upon entering I smiled looking around to see a beautiful and restrained, but definately Chinese dining room. Lovely partitions with good space between tables and a tasteful selection of music added ambience too.<br/ <br/ Ordering is bit left of field. No menu and table orders here that I was offered. Next to the entry is a large display of backlit photos of the dishes available. A very good selection but hot and cold dishes are all mixed together. The english names are in quite small and hard to read font, and the dish numbers are mostly out of sequence. A staff member will attend to you here but English skills are non existent or minimal but I suggest battling through it. Pointing and nodding eventually you'll get there and be shown a table. And if you look like me you may have to explain for the hundedth time that you want spicy food and don't need a knife and fork. <br/ <br/ My cold dish went missing and I had to wait for it while my main sat waiting. But the food is worth it all. The tripe with fresh chilli was fresh and the dipping sauce is perfectly judged. Complex light punchy balanced.... I could go on. Beef in chilli oil that wasn't too oily. Gorgeous to look at and not as hot as expected but not lacking either. It's taken some time for me to find, but here is a place who's dishes stand up to better known Sichuan establishments in Syd and Melb. <br/ <br/ Language barrier aside the staff put in the effort to ensure I was happy and got what I wanted. In another couple of visits we'll have a better understanding of each other. Quick service from the kitchen, the drinks selection is about average as well. Don't come expecting cheap prices. I think they offer good value for the taste and size but maybe try elsewhere if funds are short. <br/ <br/ Go back for more? Hell yeah. Best Sichuan taste I've found in Brisbane with the looks to match. <br/"

"We love this restaurant and eat here all the time with friends and family. High quality food, fantastic service and a great atmosphere we have been here 20 30 times and never had a bad experience. The menu is superb, offering plenty of choice for even the fussiest eater. The staff are the best, very friendly and fast service. I celebrated my birthday here this year with 15 other guests, Shinbashi had no problem catering to such a large group and everyone had a great time. This is my favourite restaurant in Brisbane. I highly recommend dining here!"

"This is the kind of place that makes 'sushi' for suburban dwellers who don't actually like traditional sushi.There's hardly a dish that isn't covered in mayonnaise, sweet chilli sauce or something of the sort.Most of the ingredients are not fresh seafood but fried chicken, beef, processed seafood and other things that a self-respecting sushi chef wouldn't touch with a 10 foot chopstick.The rice on dishes like seared salmon sushi should be plain, but comes with some sort of sweet sauce on it that overshadows the salmon.Ginger is not in containers at the bench. It's in tiny sachets that you have to wait to come round - and it's not the more tasty pink kind, but a more watery yellow variety.If you enjoy sushi I would save your craving for somewhere better, rather than walk away from Sushi Ren disappointed."

"The small indoor dining area is a tad squeezy. I recommend the very fresh Sashimi here and one can decide on the Sashimi Boat or a selection of Nigiri. I avoid the Sushi Rolls here after disappointing orders."

Came on a Monday lunch. I was the only customer for the whole time I was there. I was offered the main menu at around $16 but I knew they had a lunch special for $10.90 which was advertised on social media and the wall. <br>

The ingredients were good, the beef had a slight meaty smell but I'm ok with that. The rice seemed to be a mix of two batches of slightly soggy plus normal rice but not particularly enjoyable on its own. Probably because I started on it half way through.<br>

What would have made this experience a bit better would be if they offered complimentary water or tea... Didn't seem to be any available. And if I was told about the weekday lunch special upfront. As with many places run by Asians it's not really known for customer service but I expected that.<br>

"Tonight after tobaki. we've known this place for a few time. there was a good choice of meat and fed and cooked. the chicken wings were great! as good as any of the specialized chicken joints. The...staff are really efficient in changing their hot plates, which is great as it significantly reduces the smoke that is generated. as much as ever. love this place and under $30 it remains amazingly worth it."
