"Very nice..... I've tried the General Tso's, above par. The string beans in garlic sauce, very nice... The mongolian beef tasted kinda salty... BUT... THE KUNG PAO... So good.. Chicken, red+green bell peppers, peanuts, and cayenne peppers, with a very nice taste although not all that spicy. It would be better if it was spicier, for sure, but I just eat the cayenne peppers. Some of the best kung pao around other than PF Chang's..."

"We had happy hour and an early dinner on the patio. The weather was nice. I had a pizza appetizer and lasagna for dinner. The food was very good but had cooled somewhat by the time it was served. Our server was nice but not really attentive or our party (4 people). The happy hour food is good and the pricing is a good deal. We had a good time and will probably return again for happy hour."

"The New York reels are the best I had outside NYC itself. And all at Jimmy is delicious, the pasta, the pizza, it's all top notch. The owner regularly checks the cartridges at the tables and he makes you really like a regular feeling. Image: Jimmy's meatball NY roll with Marinara. Get your own role, you don't want to share it."

"I truly don't know where to begin with my experience here. I'm not certain how they were rated so high when the food was so bad. We went for my sister's birthday and she ordered the steak. The steak had zero seasoning on it. Beyond that she ordered it medium and it was brought back to her medium well so she returned it and requested a steak. That's a little under medium thinking, they'll probably overcook it again and it'll be accurate this time. That's not what happened. She got a rare steak. She said the dressing that they put on her salad was rancid, and her rosemary mashed potatoes were oversalted. Again. This was her birthday dinner. With my meal. I ordered the walleye. Again. There was no seasoning to be found anywhere. I found it interesting when we first sat down that they had seasonings on the table. And now I understand that. That is because they want you to season your own food. They don't believe in salt in the kitchen. Somehow they managed to burn my sweet potato. That's a talent because I make sweet potatoes for myself at least twice a week and have never come close to burning it. The oysters on the half shell were interested. The flavor was good because how can you mess that up unless they're bad oysters. However, I recognize it. They just reuse the oyster shells and they put canned oysters on top. I kid you not. They were not the oysters from the actual shells we got. They use the low grade scallop for the bacon wrapped scallops. The flavor was good but you could tell it was a low grade for what we were paying. The only thing I enjoyed truly was my veggies and the oysters Rockefeller. My pomegranate martini tasted like children's Robitussin. My sister's lemon basil martini had no basil in it. And she ordered the special for the night which was the flounder stuff with crab and she walked away dissatisfied as well. The atmosphere was overcrowded. And loud. I truly cannot comprehend how this is one of the best restaurants in Dayton, Ohio. When everything was so bad. From the top to the bottom, it was a bad experience. And I believe the hostess was high. I can't prove it but I believe she was."

"Perfect for something special. I read many reviews on a lot of different sites before going to Jay's. I was nervous about the bad reviews but friends have recommended it so we went.<br/ For those who say it is pricey well, yes it can be but this is not a chain and it is more upscale than applebee's. I found it precisely in line with other seafood restaurants and the pre fixe menu made it rather reasonable. $27 for three courses is prefect. <br/ For those who say they were trying to up sell a lot Um, that's what restaurants do. Would you like an appetizer? Coffee with dessert? May I suggest some wine? Restaurants want you to have the best experience so they offer what they have! When we turned down an appetizer, our server was respectful and moved on. <br/ For those who said the food was not great we didn't order whatever it was they said was bad and our food was wonderful. I had the prefixe menu of Salad, Salmon and Peanut Butter pie and everything was excellent. If anything, the Salmon's first bite felt slightly overcooked, but overall the food was really delicious. My husband had the Greek style Swordfish which was amazing. Also, please note this is Dayton Ohio and not the New England coast so you are not going to get seafood of that quality once you are used to that.<br/ For those who had bad service. We didn't. Our server was exceptional. We were not rushed at all. We had a long, wonderful experience. We were looked after but never pushed. I wish there were more servers like that. If your server isn't good, talk to the manager or owner, not splay it all over a review.<br/ <br/ In a nutshell lovely location, historical building, dim romantic setting, nice food, exceptional service....perfect for a special occasion like a birthday or Valentine's day. We will be back!"
