"Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, really excellent coffee, fabulous tea, tasty snacks, and very well priced. Located inside an art studio/gallery, and surrounded by other interesting shops, this is a must stop when you are in Bancroft. They often have freshly made treats like quiche or tarts, and have fresh herbs for the tea. Delicious!"

"Don't let the ambience of the ugly brown carpet throw you off. This place serves excellent food---fine dining quality at a relatively low budget price. I started with the cabbage soup. Lovely flavours, with the ground beef nicely spiced. My partner's salad was also exquisite with arugula, beet leaves, red pepper, tomato, all totally fresh. The quesadilla: better than any you'd find at any non-Mexican restaurant (and many Mexican ones too). The freshest tasting cheese, and not overdone. Also had roasted red pepper, onion, tomatoes, and real chicken. Very tasty.Our salmon wrap: also had lots of fresh veggies and nicely cooked salmon. Also appreciated the large portions....I had to take 1/2 my wrap with me. Service was excellent and friendly........had nice discussions about gardening with our server. It can be rather hard to find, as you have to enter from the back. Just drive slowly."

"This unassuming little restaurant was the best part of our stay in Bancroft. Run by a husband and wife team, this couple does everything right, from the warmth and genuine hospitality of Susan (and she is an incredible artist to boot!) and the mind blowingly perfect food from her husband in the kitchen. You will want to eat ALL of the homemade bread, but try not to because you will need room for the main course. The goat cheese and spinach pasta was impossible NOT to finish and the salmon that my (fish-fussy) husband ate was perfectly cooked and unbelievably delicious. Molten lava cake and rice pudding were perfect finishes. We left completely stuffed to the gills and SO SO happy about our entire experience. We promised Susan we would tell the world about Blue Roof Bistro - so do yourself a favor and get in there if you are ever in the area. You won't regret it!!"

"Wonderful spot for fish and chips. Real fresh halibut and good size portions. Would recommend halibut, fries and for appetizer the smelts or chowder.Beautiful view of look out across road.They now accept debit verses just cash!Friendly small town service and always busy with locals. Only negative is coffee is per cup instead of bottomless."

"Go there rather often for the $10 walk in special- 3 topping large pizza. Nothing special about the service etc. Check for soap before using washroom as frequently out."

"The best Fish 'n Chips I have had in a very long time and a generous helping as I had the two-piece plate for $24. Four pieces of fish: two long strips and two shorter fish rolls with plenty of fries, two cups of tartar sauce and another cup of coleslaw. I was hungry after a day of motorcycling and actually left the last roll of fish. That is a first as I never leave anything on a plate and unfortunately, no room for dessert (a weakness of mine). Oh, did I forget the beer?In comparison, back in the city where I come from, I 'd be looking for the fish they were so small.A bit noisy on the patio the odd time, but there is plenty of indoor sitting as well.Great motorcycling roads in the area...Elephant Lake Road and many others."
