"Was told an hour and 10 mins when ordering at the takeaway, which was a small simple order. Whilst waiting lots of people came ordered and got there food after we had ordered. When we did get the food it was cold and tasteless so clearly wasn't fresh which made me question why an earth we had to wait as long as we did. Luckily only here for a weekend but would not recommend."

"Actually, I visited Hay-on-wye to visit this place, and I must say that I was not disappointed at all! in the did it survived my expectations! there are so many books that the first feeling is to be overwhelmed. but as soon as they come about, they know that they don't need a few hours, but at least two days to get through every walk and everything they offer! it's not what they call a second hand bookshop regarding prices, not mistaken, they sell new books as well as old first editions and leather bound book editions etc. and therefore it's not cheap. it is at the pricier end of a bookshop. in the cellar there is a hidden gem of books that most people forget to visit. there is also a caffe that serves absolutely fantastic pancakes at the far end of the caffe! the frits/chips and the pancakes have saved my day as vegetarian person! my partner loved her so much that he ordered a second platelet! the personal is also very friendly and thoughtful! The leather chairs are comfortable so they go with the time on their hands to make themselves comfortable in the chairs to enjoy with a book of their choice! ps also sell amazing cards, magazines and notebooks!"

"We arrived on a busy Saturday lunchtime and there was no space left so they told us we could go through to the Duke which runs off the same kitchen. When we got in there, there were no menus and the waitress was reeling things off until she said something we liked the sound of This is my reason for the 4 stars. However, they completely redeemed themselves with the incredibly lovely staff, the lovely homely feel of the cafe and most importantly an amazing milkshake, scrummy toasties and lovely tea! Will 100% be back next time I'm back in the area."
