"Eat here and to the coffee when we missed the boat, the train or the bus. ideal for transport connections in the area. staff very friendly and toilets clean. many seats outside with magnificent view of the lake and the coming and going of. brienz"

"Wunderschöner Blick auf den Brienzersee. Hübscher Tisch im Garten. Charmante, freundliche, sympathische Kellnerin mit Migrationshintergrund, aber mit ausreichenden Deutschkenntnissen, also nicht ganz das Rösli oder das Vreneli vom Brienzersee. Keine Zöpfe. Kein Häubchen, kein weisses Schürzlein. Leider. Aber sonst scheint die Zeit hier stehen geblieben zu sein. Saubere, ehrliche, bodenständige Küche. Gemischter Salat, frisch zubereitet mit einer feinen Sauce. Rahmschnitzeli dünn geschnitten ( damit es nach etwas aussieht ) Die etwas zu stark angebratene Seite nach unten auf dem Teller. Sähmige Rahmsauce, nicht kalorienreduziert, geschmackvoll mit feinen Pilzchen. Ein Berg Nüdeli mit viel Butter. Fehlte nur noch der halbe Büchsenpfirsich mit Schlagrahm, dann hätte ich mich in die 70er Jahre der Schweizer Gastronomie im letzten Jahrhundert zurück versetzt gefühlt. Nostalgie pur. Wir haben es genossen."

"Kudos to Giessbach for running a fully vegetarian and vegan gourmet restaurant! The meals my partner and I had at Le Tapis Rouge were pleasing to the eye and tasted delicious. It was lovely to savour classic French dishes, including a creamy and spicy bisque flavoured with seaweed, not lobster or other crustaceans. As a vegetarian, I haven’t had much of that. The vegan spinach stuffed crêpes were very tasty and satisfying. I can definitely recommend Le Tapis Rouge and I think the food will be well liked by most, if not all, visitors. I can also strongly recommend staying overnight at this beautiful hotel with stunning surroundings."

"Vegan-Vegetarian label should not discourage you from trying this high cuisine experience. You don't have to be Vegan-Vegetarian to enjoy the surprises and the unique tastes that this chef offers. The view to the turquois lake is uncomparable. The waiter is a kind guy who adds to the experience with his explainations.But beware: it's a 3 hours dinner. When you're free to leave, they offer you a surprise dessert that requires 35 more minutes to come. The restaurant was filled in 7 tables only. Now: if it is a slow-food concept, say a very slow food concept, the Customers should be at least informed. I perceived irritation in several guests. Why does this brilliant chef impose his timing-concept on people? A bit of arrogance? Part of the show? You may enjoy this restaurant a lot, if the 3 hours is acceptable for you, but I remain having no doubt on what only 7 tables are filled here, while the "Cascades" restaurant is filled with all the other guests -not a matter of taste.A warning to the managers of the Hotel: in many properties, high profit margins lay in the bar-services. 3 hours & sleep makes you typically skip the night-cap stop at the wonderful bar in the lounge..."
