"Relieved to know that there's a place in Townsville that serves a solid Malaysian meal. The rendang beef was tender and delicious. The curry puffs were flaky and flavourful. And couldn't go past the Ipoh Hor Fun which had that great wok hei flavour. Finished the night with a superb deep fried ice-cream. Will definitely be back!"

"Ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger with fries and Aoli dipping sauce. Lunchtime Service in the front bar area on a weekday. Counter service attendant was quick to come serve me, but seemed like he didn't enjoy his job. Meal came quickly and the burger was very big. Burger Patty was pink inside, but mostly Luke warm at best. Not sure if it was cooked earlier and heated again, but I didn't like it. Burger tasted alright, but Patty was a bit of a miss. Chips were average to good, but Aoli sauce was bland and a little abnormal tasting. Aoli sauce dish was not clean, so I left it alone. For amount paid, I was expecting a little better quality. Overall, average at best. Will try somewhere else...read more"

"Came here for lunch after reading a story in the local newspaper about this café. We ordered coffee, an onion and pear quiche and a smoked salmon quiche, both came with a salad and chips. The size of the large coffees was impressive, but unfortunately my flat white had as much froth as my wife's cappuccino, so only half a mug of coffee for me. Both quiches consisted of two small sweet shortcrust shells, half filled with the relevant fillings. The pastry was very dark, just shy of being burnt.The savoury smoked salmon was quite flavoursome, but not suited to a sweet flan. The onion and pear was more a dessert line and not suited to a meal with salad and chips. The salad on both had wilted lettuce and an uninspiring vinaigrette. Unfortunately it had the appeal of a cheap takeaway meal, but came with a $38 price tag. I wouldn't go back, unless things changed significantly.Two stars overall for the food, two for the service and two for a young person showing initiative and starting a new business. Good luck and I hope you build on it."

"In Townsville for work and stopped into the Metropol for a take away steak burger. I was pleasantly greeted the moment I stepped into the bistro.i ordered my takeaway steak burger. I've eaten a lot of burgers in my time, some good and some not so good but this burger was the creme de la creme of burgers. Succulent steak, fresh produce and the best burger roll. The best of the best."

"Have been several times food is always excellent and service awesome. Made my day when i asked for a container of water for our dog when Renee was so good as to give us a bucket for him. Not many places welcome dogs but they happily did. Thank you!"
