"Second time I have been to Skoob's. Laid back atmosphere that is family friendly. Appetizer of the hot pretzel was delightful. The pretzels never got hard even when they cooled down. Their homemade cheese sauce was delicious. It had a white American cheese type flavor which I appreciate when most cheese dips tend to be cheddar. The deviled eggs with jalapeno and candied bacon are a must have. It's great to share and they have a great balance of sweet and heat. The fact that this restaurant makes their own blue cheese and fresh cut fries makes a quality difference you notice. They also hand bread their chicken fingers. It takes your normal pub type food to a slightly special level you do not find everywhere. The chicken wings were great and crispy but not overcooked and they came with a lot of fresh carrots and celery as did the fingers. One poor aspect of my visit was the Specialty Cocktail menu. My impression is that these are out of date and the correct cocktail recipes are not being used based on the drinks we were made. The one I ordered was awful. It was like drinking fire it was so strong. My husband couldn't even drink it. It was not just the strength but it just tasted like straight booze and nothing else. It was hard to accept the $10 price tag for each cocktail that went to waste. However, lots of friendly staff and food at this restaurant and I would certainly recommend it to friends and family....minus the cocktails."

"A tremendous achievement in culinary execution. Perhaps the pinnacle of modern gastronomy. Please for the love of god make a reservation. Seats here go quick. If you walk in without a reservation, the hostess will look at you funny. You will get a does not compute facial expression. Like, Hey man, you really though you could just walk in and get a table? Haha, you 're no Leo. That 's right, when Leo is visiting Amish country, he always makes a note to eat the flounder sandwich at C 'est La Vie. The full name adds Bistro to the end, but when you 're this good, you can drop the excessive naming schemes. Everyone knows it simply as C 'est La Vie, or in some circles, simply La Vie. Like Hey guys, anyone wanna hit up La Vie this weekend? I hear they make a mean coquille Saint Jacques. Now, being in a lower tier socio economic bracket, such coquilles are strictly off limits less I want to miss a car payment on my '17 Sonata. But let me tell you she 's almost paid off, and when she is, I 'll make it rain coquilles in my mouth. Simply put, La Vie is a triumph a high class eatery where you can wine and dine all of your top clients. They will be very impressed and trust me when I say you 'll be getting a Christmas card. That 's right, you bring someone here, you make their greeting card list. It leaves that much of an impression. This is prime time downtown Lancaster, so parking is going to be a vicious cockfight. But if you can muscle your way into one of the spots at any of the adjacent streets or hourly lots, to the victor go the spoils. Such is life!"
