"We thought we'd go for a nice cream tea and take a look at a possible wedding place for my friend. We came in the place at the beginning is nice, we went to there no one to welcome us, so we sat at a table in the bar. 10 minutes came to serve us, so my friend went to the reception to say we wanted to put a food order. The staff seemed to see us. We waited another 10 minutes for which no one came. To whom we went, the employees looked at us and didn't strike eyelids that they were wearing when they were talking. Absolutely terrible customer service. Will never be here again!!!! Get new employees who want to work and make their customers happy! I was disgusting to give this one star, it's just because I had too!"

"I stopped here yesterday. although we had not booked, we were treated very well. we had the most amazing Sunday dinner. when we had a little dog, we were allowed to eat in the restaurant area. wait staff were attentive and we did not have to wait too long for service. very enjoyed our visit. recommend this for anyone who thinks of a visit, not the cheapest, but every penny worth."

"Disappointed! No atmosphere at all! Cold and uninviting decor! Staff very pleasant and coffee okay!! All rather depressing! Needs redecoration in bright colours, a bit of soft music, etc."

"Visits here with my wife and. wow! real authentic Japanese cuisine so hard to find outside of london, but a hidden gem here in devon. can not recommend very enough. we had the set menu (similar teriyaki and fish,) gyoza on the side, the matcha sundae and milcheis with sesame and roasted rice sakura black tee is also recommended. great!"

"So sorry to say this but this is our second visit both times the lady behind the bar was very abrasive right from the start. The people who ordered before us waited for ages our food was served first. Both tables had cold chips one lady had cold chicken too. The bar person told us that we should have told her earlier but she wasn’t there to tell. They apparently had problems in the kitchen. She begrudgingly said she would refund the cost of the chips but didn’t. It’s just the attitude of being unwelcome we all need our Dartmoor inns to be a success but this is twice with the same lady. Just spoils a lovely walk with friends any business should welcome a large group in these hard times."

"Went here for dinner as family, 7 adults and 3 kids)while staying for week in Dartmouth, This was our last night and needed to be decent We made last minute booking by phone as previous place we had booked did not have a good choice for all family. The food ordered was of very good and the service was very efficient. We had several different dishes from the menu including one special. All were very tasty, well presented and decent portions. Drinks also quite reasonable compared with some of the places we had been during the week. Certainly would eat here again if and when in Dartmouth."

"Me and my niece had gone up to get our usual curry’s that we normally had on Sunday 8th. Now I’m terminally I’ll having brain cancer so my memory isn’t great and I can never remember what the curry is I order now I knew it has king prawns in and has a red sauce, after a little while trying to explain to the man behind the counter he said he reckons it is probably king prawn Massala which again as I can’t remember and normally go with what they think it is and I’ve enjoyed it every time I’ve had it. Well let’s put it this way it wasn’t my usual one I normally enjoy, the tails were still on which I wasn’t warned about the heat was fine as I don’t like my curry too hot as it takes away the flavour of the curry I find. As soon as I finished I felt sick and my stomach was doing somersaults I hate complaining but in my head I feel that if I wasn’t to say anything someone else might go through the same and I’m still feeling yucky and have no energy at all. I hope this helps someone who’s wanting to eat from here.I won’t be recommending them as I live above the old smithy and always send customers up there for a great curry"

"We visited Yarn a couple of times while on holiday in Dartmouth for some drinks before dinner (booked elsewhere), and both times we felt really welcome and were accommodated even when all tables were taken (kind locals offered to share their table). There's a great...selection of beers and I enjoyed a nice rose too. We didn't eat at Yarn but when we saw other people's food it looked and smelled delicious! If you do want to eat in, I'd definitely recommend booking."

"It is a very welcoming pub that was presented clean and well. they had a good selection of dartmoor beer available and it was poured into the right glass. the menu was well thought out (not only her pub grub) and eating was well presented and prompt. all the staff were friendly and it also had parking space. Baby change is also available. I would recommend it."

"Stopped in here today for the festive baguette as it had been advertised on the Facebook page. Yes the place looks a little shabby chic but you cannot fault the warm welcome and excellent food and drink. Great location if you fancy a walk on the moors and dogs allowed."
