"There is always something very special, at least to me, of finding myself in a Levantine family owned restaurant. The warmth of the welcome is always palpable and the concern for your enjoyment is sincere. The lentil soup is excellent, the kibbeh are just what...you want them to be, the hummus is thick and tangy, the tabbouleh has no bulgar filler at all, just bright and green, the rice is fluffy and long and the shawarma tastes of the grill and careful seasoning. Well away from the bustle of the heart of U of Waterloo campus, this is a spot worth the extra few minutes to find you way toward."

"I walked by and took a look at the fare and it looked amazing. Fresh and home cooked. An excellent array of options. The female half of the new ownership greeted me....very friendly and pleasant. She and her husband cook everything themselves. I ordered a taboulah salad and it was a very generous portion. It was refreshing, delicious and the price point was under $5 with taxes so I ordered another Taboulah to bring home and a roasted potato item. The potatoes were unlike anything I'd had...a combination of savoury, spicy and a touch of vinaigrette...so good! I would highly recommend giving this establishment a try and will definitely be going back to try some of the other food items on the menu."

"I went twice to Shawarma Royal. The first time I got the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich Plate. The Shawarma itself was top-notch. High quality and tasty. It started with a simple Shawarma Pita, then topped with fries, and that topped with more Shawarma. Cool! Problem: the fries, although plentiful, were not good and there was no substitution like rice or potato available.Second time: I ordered a Chicken Shawarma Sandwich only. Again, the chicken Shawarma itself was top-notch. But very few toppings available. Also, the cook was munching on food while he was preparing my food.In any event, worth a try..."

"I have been going to this restaurant for 30 years and it has changed some paintings the hands. I went in about a month ago and they had a new person who worked the front and she tried to overload me for an article that. I order to go once a week. I tried to explain it to her, and she literally wouldn't listen, so I left without her. I went back the next week and told one of the other girls and she wasn't very polite and she put in the order. two days ago, I went back and guess who was in front? I ordered the spinat feta triangle and she made it obvious that she was not happy to see me. began speaking Arabic to the others and they all began to laugh. I came home and it was an extremely tired flattened out of stale and in the regular it comes with garlic sauce, this time it has humus. mistkerl? I'll let them judge. it is very hit and miss with the quality of food in general now. I had skin problems twice after eating. but really it is the blatant abuse of the workers there they have ensured, not only will I never go into a foot again, I will make sure that all I know about my experience say. they don't deserve to treat these wise customers. in this area there are enough other possibilities and places of the Central Eastern kitchen. while I admit that her garlic sauce is wonderful, it is not worth getting a meal. if the quality of the food is so that it has brought them a flattened piece of steal food from the refrigerator and then the customer service has cooked up to the staging battle, they cannot support it in any way. the old al medina had wonderful owners, so friendly and gracious and eating was to sniff. that is mediocre eating now with service that should not be tolerated by anyone."
