"One of the few chip shops I have to stop at if driving past. Large fresh cods. Of the few places I've found outside Scotland that does curry deep fried battered spring rolls and love them."

"Our party of have just had a meal at the Beefeater at Southcote and it was very disappointing and not of its usually high standard. Firstly our drinks took a very long time to arrive, The Gin and tonic was so watered down that it took attempts to get one that at least had some taste. I ordered a jacket potatoe with my main corse and then about minutes later Zia was informed that they had none and I reluctantly had to settle for chips. The steaks were not the best and was not cooked as requested. I asked for medium but it was nearer to well done. I then ordered Sticky Toffe pudding ice cream sundae only to be told this was being taken off the menu next week and was no longer available. Why wasn’t I toldt t this was not available when given the menus. The coffees arrived without milk and this too took quite awhile to be brought to the table. A very dissapointing experience. I don’t think I will be visiting again any time soon."

"Lovely pub, tasty food and great range on their menu. We were moored up nearby and it was a perfect place to have dinner. We came on a busy summer Sunday and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We loved that there was an option to have a mini dessert with a coffee/hot chocolate etc. Would recommend!"

"Still the same beautiful old pub (our favourite venue for birthdays and family parties for over 20 years! , but with new management sadly not the restaurant it once was. Very restricted menu now, with fairly standard dishes and my 'pavlova ' dessert was just a meringue nest with ball of ice cream on top surprising for the price charged. After 2 disappointing visits this year, sadly we will not be going again."

"We came across the Iron Duke by accident, but now it's become a firm favourite. It's in the most beautiful location in the village of Strafield Saye and really easy to get to from the The owners have done a super job with the interior decor and the garden in summer is glorious. The menu is more gastro pub than pub-grub and is reasonably priced. Our favourites include the baked Camembert with garlic, the fish and chips and the sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend a visit!"
