"I recently visited the nickel kitchen and bar for my birthday, the service, food and staff were wonderful. The location is good, decor is crisp and restaurant is maintained to a high level, the wait staff are knowledgable and helpful. Food is plentiful with good portion sizes, dessert is a must but I would definitely recommend sharing!!"

"We booked at Fenek because it is one of the few places in James Street and Newstead that do a full brunch menu and not just breakfast, halt, then lunch menu.We were the first of the family group of 8 to arrive and were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Coffees,strong and hot, quickly came as ordered. As others slowly came in, menus appeared. All were caught with indecision as to what to order - the 20 plus brunch items all seemed enticing. In good time, orders were placed and while conversation went on, food started to appear. No one was disappointed with their choice - the french toast brioche with a salted caramel, banana and ricotta a big hit, as was the corn fritters and avocado with a poached egg. The bacon infused burger, the omelette and the bacon and eggs with mushrooms were all a treat and done as requested. We had been to Fenek for dinner previously and were impressed. Now we are more than happy that Fenek is doing brunch. Good stuff Fenek!"

"After our Sushi lunch I need a strong beverage. We walk over to Belle Èpoque and are served immediately by the friendly Barista. The Vittoria coffee here is always good We sit at one of two al fresco tables watching people coming and going. Our coffees arrive after 5 minutes. My large double shot Cafe Latte is hot and strong with a beautiful aroma. It hits the spot! Paul’s Flat White comes with an unusual amount of foam but he says the coffee is good The Emporium Hotel has been sold. We hope this little French Cafe will survive any redevelopment."

"A business lunch with a new customer turned into a catastrophic opportunity, orders were missed and the wrong meal served. the tour that my customer ordered was served lukewarm and without the seasonal veg and kartoffels advertised on the menu. the bread sticks. with the charcuterie were stabbed. an overpriced and very underwhelming culinary experience. never again."

"Flaming Olive Restaurant Bar, should be renamed Flaming Awesome as you say this, imagine you are Alf Stewart from Home Away. At least thats the effect it had on us after experiencing this Restaurant. It is modern with a beautiful aesthetic inside,...all the hallmarks of a fine dining, elegant experience. Surprisingly, after perusing the menu, the price points were quite generous. For instance, the extensive wine list, of which there were red white varieties from S.A., VIC, Italy France; glasses started from averaging with the high end being about Again cocktails averaged Beers for Australian imported This is impressive considering most bars these days are above that. Their beverage list certainly has something for everyone so be sure to take your time. The menu is brilliantly simple, not overwhelming, reads like a great short story. Arranged in Modest Substantial Something , Delicate as well as tea coffee, it is very easy to find yourself salivating as you read through. The Modest options are great for share plates again, this menu has something for everyone. The main dishes are what you would expect at a fine dining Restaurant, price-wise, but there's enough choice, between that its generous in its offering. We started with Slow cooked beef brisket blue cheese croquettes charred onion relish Tender pork belly, puffed crackling, daikon, straw mushrooms, rich pork broth I am not a huge blue cheese fan but loved the croquettes! The pork belly, was so tender it melted in your mouth. You'll find yourself scooping up the broth with the crackling. For mains, we went with the day's special Truffled chicken ballotine, onion puree,sauteed petit veg, roasted chicken jus,shaved truffles and Fragrant duck breast, aromatic quince, almond, duck parfait, tendrils, jus gras Both dishes, were not just beautiful in its presentation, but outstanding, in taste, flavours. So pretty I didnt want to eat it, but my belly vetoed my brain the rest is history. It was time for Dessert. Went with the Snowball, a fluffy cheesecake, citrus curd, white chocolate aero and Golden chocolate orb, with hazlenut mousse, poached pear, poir william ice cream hot chocolate fondue Again, the beauty of these dishes are stunning. The supermodels of the culinary catwalk. importantly, how was it? It makes your belly dance, do the moonwalk, your heart sing like an Ed Sheeran ballad. Yum! We like Rieslings so the Eden Valley was a great choice for our meals. Service was amazing from the moment we stepped in, through to our entire dining experience. Friendly, genuine, attentive not overbearing. Restaurateur Gordon Yu has hit the mark perfectly. Fine dining without being too high-brow encompassing the finest ingredients flavours, taking guests on a unique dining experience.
