"Haveing seen rick stein complement the fish curry at this restaurant we thought as in mamallapuram would have to experience it for ourselves - first attempt failed as arrived but no one around to serve us! 2nd attempt- the 'rick stein' curry is not on the menu- the host brings out fresh fish and says will make it special- BEWARE- this comes out at a hefty 1000 per head cost- we chose to have the fish curry from the menu- at which point the staff lost all interest in serving us- the curry arrived- the worst food we've eaten in India! A terrible shame. We would definitely not eat here again"

"Than you arrive in Chennai, India in the middle of the demonetisation processwith only 2 x 2000 rupees in your pocket (for which you first had to walk 3 hours to find an atm with a queue shorter dan 50m and not being empty) and you arrive in Mahabalipuram two hours later and have a meal at Nautilus. You ask for the bill which is 200 rupees and give one for your 2000 rupee bills. Than the spectacle starts: in front of all the customers, the French owner starts shouting what i'm thinking? How do i dare to pay 200 rupee with a 2000 rupee bill? Am i a fool? An idiot? What am i thinking? He does not point this out directly to me but to his other customers. Totally incredible. When i try to explain that these 2 bills are all i got from the atm, he simply turns his back on me, making some more disbelieve towards the other customers instead of hearing my story out. I regret the fact that i remained polite, i should have left his place without paying....Being a returning visitors over the years, i tell him that this was the last time for me. All of a sudden he calms down and says he has a lot of stress because the demonetisation. The fact that i start my travel in India with only 4000 rupees does not appear in his head, he only laments about his own problems.Concerning the restaurant; Nautilus is "Mahabs" resto scene all over: bland, boring, no love for their food whatsoever and the owner just sits there in his chair and only conversates with French visitors. My last visit was in 2011 and the menu did not change a single bit since... My two cents mr. Jacques: shut down this louse excuse for a restaurant and get outof the hospitality scene because your food and behaviour are a total disgrace;even in a low quality town like Mahabalipuram."

"Great views. Fish smelt bad. Toilets horrendous. We decided that eating here was a big risk so just had a drink. Waiters over friendly and claimed to have no change when we paid. We stuck it out and insisted they find some. Avoid it"
