"The Paradise Restaurant (662 Leila Avenue 204-338-4659) has not changed since I was last there before I moved out of the neighbourhood ten years ago. The same framed poster pictures of pasta are still on the entranceway walls along with the same dowdy décor throughout the restaurant. The restaurant on Leila was built in 1983 and it's like a walk back in time when you enter but it's looking tired and it's time to renovate. Little has changed including the food. Thankfully the food is still good even if the service and the ambience is unremarkable. We had all ordered drinks and were enjoying them when two baskets of breadsticks were brought to our table piping hot from the oven. They were so good we couldn't just stop at one. The six of us all asked for separate bills but the waitress assured us she'd sort it all out later. My friend and I had the same dish, veal parmigiana, and we both agreed it was very good. It was steaming hot, tender and the pasta accompanying it was smothered in a thick tomato based sauce. Very good. The others in our group ordered various dishes from eggplant to seafood and they all agreed their food choices were very good. The waitress was attentive through most of the meal the meal but towards the end she was bordering on rudeness. We weren't ready to leave the restaurant at 8:40pm since our reservation had been made for 7:00pm and we didn't order right away but the waitress came to our table and announced that we had to pay up. One of our members asked if she wanted to go home and she replied, "yes." To pay, we had to get up from our table to go to the cash register at the front door and then back again to the table to finish our conversations and our drinks. We figured the restaurant didn't have a portable debit/credit card machine but that's what we used when we got to the front door, no cords attached. One of our friends uses a walker so it would have been so much more convenient had the waitress just brought the machine to the table like they do in most restaurants nowadays. We all felt rushed and suddenly unwelcome as we sat there in an almost empty restaurant. There was only one other couple in the whole place besides the six of us when we left. For a Friday night the place was not busy and there was only one waitress in the restaurant area. The evening was terrific but the ending seemed like they just wanted to rush us out so they could close up early. Their hours on Fridays are from 11:00am to 11:00pm so what was the rush? It's not like there was a line up to get in or that we were loud and disturbing other patrons. There really weren't any. I wonder if the last couple felt the same way as we did? On leaving, the owner thanked us for coming as we walked out the door. That would have been a nice touch had we felt it was a sincere thank you, farewell and come back again. It's been over ten years since I was there last and it will likely be another ten before I return. However, if you ignore the old décor that's badly in need of a change, the borderline rudeness of the waitress, and the "exit hustle," the food was as good as I remember it from long ago. I'd rate the whole experience 3 stars out of 5."

"Had a craving the other day for calamari and decided to run to Joey's on Regent (because of proximity) to have some. Not impressed. I wish I had a craving for something else. The only good thing was the speed of service and friendly serving stuff, but that hardly covered for the taste of food. Calamari I received were testing funny, and the reason why is because they were fried in very old oil. I guessing did not confirmed with kitchen, but that is what it looked like to me. Some of them were not even fully fried (by the very, very light golden colour) and the taste of old oil was overwhelming. Definitively the worst I ever had, and over entire weekend I got to know my bathroom very well due to some intestinal issue. I won't be coming to test my luck to this particular establishment again.AK"

"Once I saw the selection of vegetable/vegan/vegetarian options on the menu, I was amazed and could not wait to try one. I've never seen "plant-based" pizzas. what a joy her extensive offer penetrates. after much thought I chose the earth lovers with the garlic sauce. what a great choice...so delicious! the whole wine-thin crust was fantastic and the beats excellent. the others in my group chose the meat lover pizza and enjoyed it very much. the staff was friendly and helpful."

"We went to Sorrentos with friends. Ordered a variety of menu items, including a chicken caesar wrap, kids chicken fingers, wings, pizza and fettuccine Alfredo. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Server was friendly and helpful."

"The absolute worst steak I ever had. The "line cook cut the steak in half because he doesn 't know how to cook steak. I asked for medium and it was well, well done. Not to mention the robbery, greedy price of 40 bucks for a tiny 8oz. The meal was a complete joke. Never go"
