"As a riverside pub in the picturesque town of Abingdon, we were quite disappointed to find that they weren't serving food on a Saturday they only do roasts on Sundays. The cheery bar manager greeted us on arrival and seemed genuinely disappointed to let...us know that. It is a clean but sparsely decorated pub with a small courtyard at the side. There was a meat raffle. The overall feel was of a locals' pub rather than one to appeal to visitors and tourists."

"First impression; artistic, vintage, good music, ping pong, cocktails. not too much of a restaurant in the evening, but they have these shaders and fingerbuffet eating which I think worked well for the type of declining it was. Turned out that she has many different events, quiz nights, swinging nights, club nights, ping pong tournaments and the lists....we had a great time there...will be in the eye for our Xmas event."

"Eating was overpriced and of very poor quality served by surly uninterested employees! with the farm shop next to selling what looked like quality products, they would be something that quality would be reflected in the restaurant, unfortunately not!"

"Stopped for coffee with my wife last w/e, it feels very tired,possibly one of the worst I have stopped in. The toilets were not well maintained or cleaned. Located in the town centre,so easy to find. The staff were very friendly helpful and it offered what you expect from Costa. Come on Costa, spend some money do this place up. Would I return ? Perhaps, might try another local coffee shop instead."

"Arrived only to be told you can’t sit down inside and you can’t use the toilets. Had to sit in car and it was not clear why. Someone else attempted to sit down and was told to leave.? Someone else trues to use the toilet- not allowed. Sign up saying register your car number plate. When I asked I was told you don’t need to do this. Not the best experience."

"Landlord Anthony made every effort to lay on a superb spread of hot and cold, meat and vegetarian options. Though there is no specific function room, there is a large alcove in the pub to afford all necessary privacy, and bar staff were able to manage a tab for guests. All facilities were clean and bright. Draught beers were Old Hooky Hook Norton Bitter both kept extremely well. The cost was reasonable and as anticipated. A deposit of £10 p h was required. Negotiating requirements was both amicable and professional. I wholeheartedly recommend The Blue Boar for receptions events of any nature. Keep up the good work, Anthony Team."
